@tapsucker, I have a 1999 of the A Le Coq. Had one about 6 years ago, and it was drinking fine then. Still looking for that special occasion to drink my last bottle. I've given up saving bottles of beers for special occasions, as they never come around! I do have a bottle of a Gran Reserva Brandy fr...

I just can't see how they are going to work in Vancouver, given the quality of locally produced ales available. They just not in the same ballpark!!! Still, I guess they have to try juts to see how far behind the rest of the community they are. Interesting that there's no expansion for their home of...

If they retain the house yeast, then nothing will change.

The brewer in Calgary even admitted that they need to change their yeast up a little, as it doesn't work with the one off styles their making.

But the past 18 months have seen the brewers released from the usual constraints, with Big Rock trying to catch up & take a part of the craft beer boom, but they have sadly failed. They've brewed some 'out there' stuff, but it's just not good. Just check their ratings on the usual sites, and gen...

Re: Big Rock's a coming...

Interesting. Now we should be able to get their one off beers. http://www.thestar.com/business/economy/2014/08/13/alberta_craft_beer_pioneer_eyes_ontario.html You're not missing anything. At all! They may well have brewed close to 50 different beers last year, but their tasting panel need a smack a...

I ended up having to subscribe as the one store in Edmonton was very sporadic with getting the magazine in, then would only bring one or two copies in, and then they eventually closed.

Even being a subscriber doesn't guarantee I get the issue; think my postie likes free beer mags!

Have you contacted the publisher? They'll probably send you a back copy?

Or, if you don't mind reading it on your computer, all the articles are up on the website, http://allaboutbeer.com/issue/july-2014/

I really thought the beer geek scene stopped being such a boy's club, especially when I see so many girls at beer events and in beer bars nowadays. I guess they don't waste their time looking at labels. So are these labels the craft version of the beach bimbo ads the majors run to sell suds?...

Sauerteig by Lighthouse Brewing - A great, easy drinking Rye Saison. Bam Bière by Jolly Pumpkin - Year old bottle from the liquor store, and a wonderfully bone dry, brett bomb. Too Much Coffee Man by Gigantic Brewing - Weird, just plain weird. A coffee black saison. But damn good! Mean Old Tom by Ma...

Yeah, Bois has been here a while now, and the price is really slowing distribution. A bunch of Oud Beersel has arrived and is just as costly as the Loons. Alberta is no longer the home of vast amounts of low priced Cantillon.

Sorry for the off topic.
