I'm going to guess you haven't been to Quebec in the past year. Moralite, Yakima, Leo's, Catapulte, Jukebox, Sabotage, Disco Soleil, End of the Road. All better than decent.

I was responding to an original discussion about how new breweries should come out swinging for the fences with creative beers. 3 breweries were suggested by someone else, and when I looked them up, all were doing it on contract, and none appeared to have hit a home run, which supported my position...

The silliest part of the Beer Store report is that anyone in Ottawa knows they're full of shit. I bet the Gatineau Costco, Rapdio and the Beer King sell more beer than any Beer Store in Ontario. Maybe people in Ottawa are just stupid because they buy a lot of beer that is more expensive since it is ...

Also, the quality really is great. I've been lucky recently to have a few friends either traveling in the states, or else from there coming up here, bringing me beers. There is no doubt there are some amazing brews. Heady is rock-solid and I had a bottle of Alpine Duet that was just sublime. The li...

Is this really an Ontario thing though? Quebec has a lot more really good brewers but they still have a ton of mediocre microbrew sitting on shelves. I suspect the same thing is prevalent in the US. Most people start out drinking macro swill. That's what their parents drank and it's cheaper which is...

I've noticed that Creemore is getting a huge push in Quebec. Probably because there's a lack of non-Quebec faux microbreweries to compete with there.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Not exactly the finest list of breweries across the province. Beyond the Pale and Oast are the only standouts. On the other end of the scale, I thought Perth Brewery only did clones of macro beers.

I haven't been yet but Lunenberg Pub in the market might be the best option. Multiple Beyond the Pale taps along with Ashton, Flying Monkeys, Beaus, Nickelbrook, Amsterdam, Sawdust City, Mill St and Kichesippi.

And what's wrong with the Arrow and Loon? It's pretty much the same place it was 20 years ago when I went there for the first time except they've got more beer bottles placed around to gather dust. It is dated and resembles something you'd see on Restaurant Makeover or Restaurant Impossible. Half t...

That's a pretty aggressive expansion for Bieres du Monde. I find their prices higher than my other usual suspects on the Quebec side but they also do a lot of promotions on Facebook to bring the prices down. With Brou Ha Ha planning on moving to a bigger location, the craft beer market in Gatineau m...
