Re: Vermont
Just got back from another awesome weekend in Vermont. Mule Bar: again a great spot. Lots of interesting taps, 3-4 HF, Heady cans for $5. Nice small plates, good crowd, beautiful patio out front. Winooski Bev: just breezed through this time, picked up some Frost and Foley Brothers. Alchemist: Was th...

Re: Vermont
I'm there Canada weekend, hoping it'll open early but it'll be a shitshow if so. Likeliest opening is a softer weekday opening after July 4 I assume. If anyone's going this weekend, getting Heady in stores will be a bit harder until the brewery opens. Store delivery being cut starting soon in antici...

Re: France - Craft beer thriving again
How 3 Brewers survives in a city like Montreal or Toronto where there are ample alternatives and a more nuanced understanding of beer is beyond me. Really? There are thousands of shitty restaurants in those cities with way worse beer lists than 3 brasseurs that stay open and thrive. They aren't com...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread
Been doing that for at least a month at my local. I can't imagine anything that interesting to bartowelers in there.

Re: Vermont
Is there a taxi company in Waterbury? Someone above mentioned Uber. Is there actually Uber around there? Thinking of staying one night at the Best Western up the hill, but want to get to/From the bars in Waterbury.

Re: NB Judge Rules Interprovincial Liquor Barrier is Unconstitutional
I was being a slight bit loose with the term markeup, markeup is actually only one component of the pricing. As long as you are in the states 48 hours, you have the same personal exemptions as anywhere. But if less than 48, DO NOT CROSS INTO NB, or don't buy beer. You can find all the details in Mem...

Re: NB Judge Rules Interprovincial Liquor Barrier is Unconstitutional
The 100% markeup NB has on beers brought back from the US (under 48 hours) is a FAR bigger crime against humanity than the police stopping some dude with craploads of Coors Light.

Re: Washington DC / Northern Virginia suburbs
Back from a week in DC, some for work, most for fun. Bars: Churchkey... plenty said previously in this thread, but man oh man this place continues to stun. I was in here maybe 5 times in 7 nights, closed the place twice. Bar staff treated us like best friends, although I'm sure my VISA was their tru...

Re: Ottawa and area help
Agree. Nothing I go too far out of my way to seek out, but they do make lots of good beer, and their good:shit ratio is pretty solid, especially for Ottawa. For me personally, they are one of only two or three breweries in or around the Ottawa area who I would order a beer blind (not knowing anythin...

Re: Ottawa and area help
EDIT: Updating below BDT does a giant flight they call the "horloge", I assume you get 12 tasters? Yeah, looking at the site that's what's going on. If you order the horloge flight you must get those 12 beer. The hors-horloges ones I assume mean they are ones you don't get in their standar...

Re: Ottawa and area help
Also, really almost certainly the two best places to drink beer in the Ottawa AREA are Cheshire Cat and L'autre oeil, but they are way the hell out from downtown.

Re: Ottawa and area help
THey have a small bar with seating, maybe 6 spots??? Not very isolated from the dining area. It would be ok to go to try some beer, but it definitely would not be a place I would normally want to sit and drink beer at. EDIT: trying to find a way to say it that doesn't come off too negatively. I gues...

Re: Ottawa and area help
Brothers has been really good about live tweeting their tap updates the last few months. They also just recently started using either tap hunter or beer menus, I forget which. While I love the Black Tomato and I really like Brothers, it just depends on your vibe. Yes, they will be more Toronto centr...
