Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

NAC says a lot of things. I don't think they have ever been right about the times they have given for any beer to hit shelves. I understand that at a certain point it is out of their hands as well, but I don't ever put any stock on anything I have read/heard from them directly. When I asked on FB a...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

North American Craft posted this on Facebook today: "To all fans of Craft IPA. Smuttynose Brewing Co. Finestkind IPA will now be available in over 100 Self Serve Beer stores! ‪#‎newhampshire‬ ‪#‎craft‬" It seems that TBS Store Locator doesn't allow a refined search for self-serve stores. A...

...In Barcelona, Biercab has an amazing selection (as well as a bottle shop full of Cantillion). BrewDog has a branch there now, which is as you'd expected. Found one nice little brewpub right on the harbour, called Black Lab. Make sure you know where you're going though - the locals we asked had n...

One thing I like about the Ontario Brewers Directory is the search-by-city. Helps planning the beer trips!

Re: New Limberg Brewing Company

Thanks Provost. I fixed the link.

Would like to get to the brewery sometime soon. I found out they're not shipping yet.

New Limburg Brewing Company

This one looks like a recently opened brewery in the Simcoe area. I saw their listing the Ontario Brewers Directory. New Limberg focuses on "Belgian-style ales" according to their site. Has anyone sampled their products? I'd like to try some. Not sure if it's being shipped anywhere out of ...

Re: Cambridge, Ontario Tap Takeovers at 'The Bruce'

We stayed at the hotel, for a wedding in Cambridge. Impressed by the late night menu at the bar: the braised oxtail gnocchi was terrific. The selection of beer was great, including local brewers Block 3, Descendants, Wellington. Apparently 25'ish craft beers rotate through the taps. By the look of t...

National Post editorial today sums up the disappointment with this quite well: http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/national-post-view-liquor-reforms-that-could-drive-you-to-drink "Ontarians will thus be left with an even more absurd and needlessly complex system post-“reform” than before...

Re: The conundrum of opening a brewpub in Toronto

...IF it's true. Might as well prohibit coffee houses that roast their beans, and bakeries or anybody with ovens. As a home roaster, I've looked into how I can scale up roasted bean production. Coffee roasteries also need to be situated in commercial/industrial zones or they're not permitted to roa...

The Winking Judge's Meet the Brewer night was fun, even though the brewer wasn't there! Talked to the rep, who was providing samples to a good sized crowd.

Both Arrogant Bastard and Stone have been on tap at the WJ for some time.

Barcelona Beer Festival 2015

While keeping warm on this freezing cold day, I was looking at Ratebeer. The Barcelona Beer Festival is coming up: March 13-15.

Here's the link --> http://bit.ly/1CAVHhn

Barcelona is one of my favourite cities, and the beer scene there is growing fast.

I'd love to go. Sigh.

... Too many Toronto bars focus on style over substance, while slacking on everything else. No other T.O. beer bar nails the combo of service, food, ambience (in terms of people actually talking to each other), and beer selection the way Bar Hop does... Amen to that. We've got some pubs in Hamilton...

let's not kid ourselves. it was a gong show for the first 3 months. kitchen was backed up. servers were literally RUNNING back and forth. it's a much different place now than what it was before. I think Barhop wasn't prepared for the volume of business, and service was shaky at the beginning. A few...

I've been a fan of Barhop since Day 1. It opened with great momentum, and has never looked back. Yes, it's so crowded now during prime time. I'm patient and usually get a seat at the bar. To Lister's point, I think there are a few pretzel-logic mind-numbing rules. Maybe Mill Street's Distillery loca...
