Re: Dogfish DIPAs

or this? Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA LCBO is putting it through their trademarked cellaring program to ensure the vintage reaches peak flavour  Although this ale does stand up to some careless ageing, and it would still be nice to get it late I have some doubts we'll see it. The one time I had...

Re: That Boutique-Y Whisky Company Whisky Holiday Calendar 2019

if you're so inclined, check out my "tasting notes" here Wow, it's really encouraging so far! ;-) Still I feel compelled to give it the old 'college try' to begin to educate my palate in an extremely low financial / volume commitment scenario. This will be cool... Cheers. I specifically p...

Re: That Boutique-Y Whisky Company Whisky Holiday Calendar 2019

It was £150 in UK yes, but if the LCBO set was the same as in the UK it wouldn't have to be marked down 50%. 11 of the 24 whiskies in the UK set are older than 12 years, only one of the LCBO set is older than 12 (a cheap grain whisky) so, while age isn't necessarily an indication of quality, most w...

Re: That Boutique-Y Whisky Company Whisky Holiday Calendar 2019

As predicted, though a few weeks ahead of when I thought they would do it, the set is now 30% off: $139.95 (Still >2000 available, no need to rush, they'll probably discount again) me thinks they overbought & overpriced this one ANNNND ... proof LCBO bought too many/released them too close to f...

Re: Ontario Craft Beer, Imports and Pumpkin Beers at the LCBO (Fall 2019)

Re: That Boutique-Y Whisky Company Whisky Holiday Calendar 2019

... I’m interested in hearing Portwood’s educated opinions... Thank you for the kind words but i've been fighting a cold/flu for the last week and can't smell/taste much. Therefore, I've put off cracking these open. Being a cheap bassturd accountant at heart I'm probably going to return the box and...

For all intents and purposes this is a hoppy barley wine. I like the hop bitterness, but even if it fades, this will still be a nice ale to drink in a decade.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Fullers Imperial IPA — Really nice beast of an ale. Firm Euro hops and massive malt. Fruity, bready, herbal, sweet and bitter. This was a pleasant surprise for me as well. labels says its bottle conditioned and best before Dec 2028 ... a NINE YEAR shelf life for an imperial IPA? WTF? from limited e...

Re: Christmas Spirits Appreciation

However, this package is "educational" in the sense that you can sample different styles of whisky (Scotch single malt, Scotch single grain, Scotch blended malt) and whiskey (Bourbon and Irish) without committing to full 750ml bottles of any. If you do find something you like, you can alw...
