Bar Volo

Post by atomeyes »

No one's posted about their menu upgrades.

i've eaten there a few times over the past 2 months, and it's shockingly great.

their menu has charcuterie, sandwiches, snacks and pintxos. There are veggie options as well.

last night, i had the mufelata sandwich, as did a friend of mine. pretty fucking yummy. i also had the duck pate drizzles with honey and with some kind of sausage. it was great.

they're making really good use of the kitchen and it improves the dreadful food options on that strip of Yonge St

I've never had anything other than cheese plates in the past...always mean to order food, as I have a stigma that they don't have good food at Volo. Haha...only way to prove myself wrong is to actually order something!

Cool, I've been wanting to try Holy Chuck but rarely make it to the Yonge & St Clair area.

Shoot. Just past Zwanzie day. I was hoping to follow up those sour beers with a bacon milkshake.

Oh that place LOL I'd be fine to never go there again. If I want kinda not so great mushy burgers I have Priest over by Coxwell, and for occasionally amazing but usually burnt burgers there is Burger Shoppe by Broadview... YMMV

I guess it's too long ago now for a lot of people on this board to remember, but once upon a time Volo had really good food and a pretty extensive menu (good wine menu too!). At some point there was a conscious decision to really focus on the beer side and slim down the food options so as to avoid the hassles of the kitchen.

...mind you, the big menu was back at a time when it wasn't uncommon for Volo to shut down early because there weren't always many people after, say, 10pm. Not even on a Thursday or Friday. Hard to imagine, I know...
