The Pint Public House

Post by screw2000 »

It's taken over the old Planet Hollywood / Baton Rouge space next to the 'Dome. Chain of sports bars from out west.

Probably not high on the list for most BT folks, but a few data points about their draught list:

- Of the 40 taps: 18 craft, 6 captive, 16 macro.

- Notably, they craft taps aren't all put in a higher-priced category, instead they attempted (with mixedresults) to divide them amongst the usual chain pub "Domestic/Premium/Import" categories:

- Under "Domestic": GLB Blonde, Henderson's Best, Granite Best Bitter, Longslice Loose Lips

- Under "Premium": 3 Left Field (Maris, Eephus, Laser Show), 2 Amsterdam (3 Spped, Boneshaker), GBL Pompous Ass, Ace Hill, Side Launch Dark, 2 Flying Monkeys (Hoptical Illusion, Juicy Ass), Junction Stationmaster, Collective Arts State of Mind

- of the captives: Mill Street is under "Premium", Goose Island is under "Import"

And yes, every beer is available in every size -- so feel free to go nuts and order a 128oz table pitcher of Laser Show. :-)

Pricing is in line with "near the 'Dome" bars.

I passed by after the game last week and was curious about it. Looks like they put a bit of thought into the craft lineup. For better or for worse, these new chain sports pubs are ever so slightly redeeming the drinking scene in Toronto.

Know what would be awesome? Some kind of tap-exchange program with their West Coast/Prairies/Minneapolis locations. (If that kind of thing is even possible.)
