So, I take it the place did not open last night?northyorksammy wrote:I passed by several days ago and it looked like slow progress
a heck of a lot of work needs to be done before they can open, and they need to have occupancy license
Doesn't appear to be the case, no.bradtor777 wrote:So, I take it the place did not open last night?
I tracked down the owner's email, and he replied yesterday saying they'd be open "end of next week".

hi Everybody
Deep Pint here with some more insider info.
Twisted Kilt (on the site of the former Bow & Arrow(which it should no longer be referred to as), Yonge & Davisville) had a soft opening last nite.
In Restaurant speak a soft opening is to just open the doors and see if everything is working well, ie kitchen and ordering systems, taps and staff.
That kind of stuff. Basically its just to get everything working well before an official grand opening, which is an extremely good idea.
Onto my notes:
Beer selection is quite good, large presence of Sleeman beers, good choice of imports and great representation of local beers present too.
Of course the bestest beer in the galaxy is there: Black Oak Pale Ale (slight editorial bias there)
Cask beers should be ready for next weekend.
Menu is very good.
Had the fish & Chips which were excellent and changed my opinion on Mushy Peas
Brand new carpeting, bar chairs, lots of upolstery & new washrooms as well.
Kitchen is new and new draft lines and new draft fridge with proper temperature control.
Good news for Bruce as he was happily sitting in his regular spot with a big smile on his face. Once again the world is a better place.
Look forward to seeing everyone there!!!
Cheers

Apologies in advance: I'm a "noob" when it comes to local craft brews:
When this bar's location was The Bow & Arrow, I really enjoyed a draft they had called "Harvest Ale". Will it be available at the TK (perhaps it goes under a different name I'm not aware of)???
I'd appreciate anyone's insight.

The Harvest Ale that was available at the Bow & Arrow was brewed especially for them - and their sibling pub in Guelph, The Woolwich Arms (aka Woolwich Arrow) - by F&M Brewery.gregman98 wrote:When this bar's location was The Bow & Arrow, I really enjoyed a draft they had called "Harvest Ale". The beer is still available at the Woolwich, but I don't believe it's available elsewhere, at least not on a regular basis.
Thanks for the response GC,
That's a shame...honestly, aside from the location near me, half the reason I went to the B&A was that Harvest Ale.
But...I'll have an open mind with the TK's offerings. Do you have a recommendation based on what others have posted here about their tap offerings?
Again, I admit I'm a total rube...but I liked that Harvest Ale wasn't super-carbonated and left an initially bitter, then followed by a sweet, aftertaste.

Based on the list Publican posted and what you said about the Harvest Ale, maybe try the Black Oak Pale Ale or Fullers ESB.gregman98 wrote: But...I'll have an open mind with the TK's offerings. Do you have a recommendation based on what others have posted here about their tap offerings?
