I was wandering down the Danforth today, and I stopped by the new location of Cafe Brussel, on Danforth just east of Broadview.

The new location is under construction, but almost completed - it will re-open on Tuesday, August 28th. Looking forward to checking out the new digs soon.

Shortly after they re-opened the National Post restaurant critic did a scathing review of the place...one of the worst restaurant reviews I have ever read. Having dined there many times I was quite surprised. This past Saturday's Globe review was absolutely full of praise for the authentic Belgian cuisine including their mussels, Waterzooi and Carbonade Flamande. This place continues to stock one of the best selections of Belgian and Belgian-style beers in the city and, in fact, in the country! As some of you may or may not know, Steven Page of the Barenaked Ladies is a partner in this new, expanded venture. Well worth a visit!

Let me see if I've got this correct...this Joanne Kates, who gets paid to know about dining, goes to a Belgian restaurant and drinks wine? Is this amateur hour? Talk about not getting it.
