In Auckland, Brew on Quay is a cool building serving a great variety of Kiwi beers.
Lots of good beer in NZ, just some of it is quite regional and not distributed around the whole country...

Thanks for the note back. Auckland was a ton of fun and some quite tasty beer in the city and region. Some highlights:

- Hallertau Brewery - nice brewery located a bit of out town (need to drive) but recently opened up a large beer garden alongside the brewery. Some quite good stuff.
- Brewer's Cooperative - beer bar in town with numerous NZ beers on tap. Probably the best multi-tap I visited in the city.
- Brothers Beer - close to the above - a hybrid brewpub, beer bar and beer retail store in one. Feels like you're in a hipster garage.
- Galbraith's Alehouse - large brewpub focusing on English style ales, but not exclusively so.
- 16 Tun - beer bar in what looked like a new resto development alongside some of the piers. Nice spot with good beers.

Some other good spots (Cornerbar, Golden Dawn, Ponsonby Social, Brew on Quay) but these were the highlights IMO. Glengarry is a good beer shop that actually ships to Canada (for a crazy fee, but they do).

Obviously the IPAs tasted extremely fresh as so many of the hops are from the country itself. It's a fairly insular beer scene IMO due to its proximity to anything else, but did see some US west coast beers here and there. Very expensive country, beers are commonly $10-12 NZD for a pint/glass. But what a place to visit - always neat to drink in such a faraway land.
