After a few, Adam broke out a beer (on the house!) that wasn't on the list - A limited reserve coffee porter from Kona Brewing (so limited in fact, that the bottle was labelled and signed in Silver Sharpie by the brewmaster) very cool....

I think certain Vegas retailers 'carry' certain beers at unpurchasable prices so they can go 'look at us we carry all these beers" - without ever having to bother replace hard-to-find ones.

Yes, there are a dozen or so that Adam charges a large premium on
(Dogfsih 120 was $70 as well....1, because it is produced in small batches, and 2, he is the only guy west of the Mississippi who has it)
I found 120 min in lower NY state, and paid $10.99 each...if you offered it on a menu in NEVADA, you would have to charge at least 3-5X the cost (to include shipping & state taxes)
If something is too expensive, you shouldn't have a problem finding something else on the list.

You obviously haven't been there....ayways, with all the $$$ in that town, there is a market for it - people will pay big bucks for beers they've had all over the world.. This is not a cafe in North York gouging people....
It is the largest beer bar in Nevada. Period. Read the reviews and the press it has received.
I was recently in the Freakin' Frog and was given a tour of its impressive beer storage room.
This is an inviting beer bar, unpretentious yet with plenty of fine offerings. It has a dozen or so well-selected international and domestic draughts (how about a 13% abv "rye wine"?) and hundreds of bottled beers as mentioned earlier in the thread.
I chose a large bottle of La Bavaisienne which went for all of 8 dollars and was in excellent condition. So, while some beers carry large price tags there is always something interesting for a reasonable price. The Drake drafts were very good too including an interesting Imperial Stout.
I was there on a Sunday two weeks ago and entering the darkened bar from blazing heat, I thought the contrast was a typically American one. In fact though, a film was being shown, something I've seen done here and there on the West Coast (e.g., the Rogue bar in SF) on Sundays or other odd times to help bring people in. It was a faux-vintage film starring Gene Wilder and that is all I remember since my attention was focused on the beer offerings.
Upstairs was an interesting whiskey selection, which I also got to see but not to taste since it was Sunday and not open and also it is a private members club, open to those who pay an annual fee.
The seasoanl of some weeks back, a dark wheat beer, was excellent. So was their APA, with a big intense Chinook charcater or that type. The porter is of the style that has a slight "acid" taste (from the hops), which is not to my taste, but was well made. The others are sound examples of their style. John, if you want to try something "different", try the brewpub in the Ellis Casino and Restaurant on Koval. They have good and inexpensive meals there too, the roast beef is a great deal.
