Booked our flights and such this week - very exciting! Our Seattle hotel is around the corner from Tap House Grill and a short walk to Pike Place.

I was in Seattle last summer.

I really enjoyed Collins Pub in Seattle, which isn't far from Pike Place. They had 10 beers on tap, including Pliny the Elder. (If you like coffee, Trabant was quite good and almost right next to Collins Pub.)

At Pike Place my favourite beer was Pike Street XXXXX Stout.

Good stuff, have a great time. I'm heading back to the west coast myself (San Fran) later in the summer.

Did you book the Red Lion? I stayed there and it was literally a 2 minute walk to the Tap House Grill. Good times. The great thing about Seattle is that every time I read about the city, I find out about another great place for fine beer (like this place: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4896/?view=beerfly). Enjoy.

Has anyone read these books? Are there others you would recommend for american craft brews?

http://www.amazon.com/Craft-Beers-Pacif ... 499&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Good-Beer-Guide-W ... 635&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Microbrewed-Adven ... 865&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Great-American-Cr ... 960&sr=1-1

I'm trying to hit the ground running so I don't waste any time.

I made good use of the Places section on Ratebeer and made up a similar google map.

Places in Seattle I liked a lot:
Brouwers cafe (cellar list, expensive but worth it for rarities),
Theo chocolate (around the corner from Brouwers, FREE samples nom nom nom),

Paseo Sandwiches (yum, not entirely worth the line up but very good),

Uber Tavern - tiny but a great mix of bottles and taps.

Tap House Grill (Great spot if you want to get a sampler of local brews, bit douchey if you go at night),

Stumbling Monk (great local, great spot to spend a lazy afternoon, but I was a bit disappointed as a visitor - I was hoping for more)

Just got back... a few (perhaps obvious) suggestions for beer, these being my favourites:

-Bailey's Taproom
-Cascade Barrel House
-Belmont Station
-Deschutes
-Hopworks
-Henry's Tavern

There are literally dozens and dozens more (in the week I was there 3 new breweries opened!) They are up to almost 60 in the city proper, and over 400 in the state. It's ridiculously easy to find great/local beer there.

As for other recos, as atomeyes said, just ask. But food carts are where it's at!

Don't undervalue Oregon wine neither. They are making some fantastic stuff! (much cheaper than Napa or Sonoma for equal quality, and far less pretentious!)

Hello from Oregon! Had a mega-day on Sunday with Hair of the Dog, Cascade, Green Dragon/Buckman, Burnside and Deschutes all back to back.

There really is too much and breweries too spread out to see everything quickly. Its great to see a place with so much craft beer happening - and especially when so many breweries, even in out of the way parts of town, are also tasting rooms and small scale restaurants. A place like Bellwoods is the most similar to the spots here and hopefully we see more in TO follow suit.

Off to Newport tomorrow, first visit to Rogue!

What did you think of Green Dragon? I was a little disappointed when I was there because they had a coming soon list of AMAZING stuff, then an actual tap list that was just okay.
