The Karmeliet and Deus both shipped late due to...some...antiquated system....um.. never mind. Same with St F Cuvee Noel - that beer landed December 12th in Durham warehouse and has yet to be put up on the web or distributed to any stores.

Look for the Karm and Deus sometime mid Feb/early March. Those PO's weren't cut until end of October, so basically 2 weeks before the Winter program was supposed to start. We take cold comfort in knowing that it wasn't just our suppliers who've had delays with their shipments.

The ST F Noel is a big 9%, so aging won't be an issue, should last at least 5 years if kept right. For St F fans, their Saison will be in the Spring release (probably released in August :o ) and their Brune for Autumn 2018. We also have their 2017 Barley Wine in cases of 6x750ml and Triple in cases of 12x750ml available in consignment available right now.

On a side note, we're going to be bringing in Mags of Karm for April/May, available in cases of 3x1.5L at approx. $25/btl. If anyone is interested, shoot us an email at info@terrafirmabrands and we'll add on to the cases that we've already pre-sold.

Cheers,

Nick

It has been available at the LCBO in Sarnia for about two weeks, so I have to assume it has made its way to most of the larger urban areas by now. It's still not in the database as far as I can tell.

Strangely it's nowhere to be found on the LCBO's website, but I've found it in store. Picked up a bottle about a week ago, I believe at the Vic Park/Ellesmere location if memory serves me.

The bottle I tried went right back to the store. Maybe the cocoa was off in this batch but this seemed vastly sub-par for a $5 beer from a renowned brewery.

I'd love to know what you other beer maniacs thought of it! The regular Oatmeal Stout was pretty good.

Didn't mind it as much as you, but won't be buying another bottle - it's just not worth the money. Too much chocolate flavouring, to the point where it becomes cloying, without any mitigating features to counteract it (e.g. some cocoa powder or hop bitterness to help cut through the sweetness). I think drinking two in a row would quickly become torturous.

Bring back the oatmeal stout, plz and thx. And the winter welcome, while you're at it.

And I was able to withstand Prodromus - twice! Although maybe I was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome? (Swedish beer... ahh never mind.)

Abbaye de Rocs is listed now. At $6.15 for a 750ml bottle of 9% imported Belgian beer, rated 100 on ratebeer, has to be one of the best lcbo values of all time

Is this the Grand Cru? Frankly, even the Brune is great (Rocherfort 8-esque). But the Grand Cru is my favourite from Abbaye des Rocs - it's luscious. Though the new format is unfortunate. I still have a couple of 330 mL bottles of Grand Cru kicking around from the last release. At that price point I will pick some more up, but 330 mL is a better serving size.

I've enjoyed it many times at Only Café back when things were cheap there and I much agree.

Although I can't complain too much. Large bottles of bottle-conditioned BSAs may have a longer cycle of cellar development. And at that price a bottle I can still justify opening one any time, if it is not finished all at once I can easily stopper the bottle & enjoy over the next day or two.

To both imbibe and cook with some of the bottle AdR would also be excellent for a Carbonnade Belgian beef stew, since Trois Pistoles (my usual favorite) is almost the same price now. Good as that beer is! (Thanks Josh.)

This strategy is something I have heard you mention frequently, but I have never had the guts to try (aside from uncarbonated beers like Utopias or Xyauyu, which are really in a class of their own). It's an intriguing prospect, and it certainly lends itself better to an imperial stout or BDSA, but I still feel a bit gun shy. Maybe at ~ $6 per bottle, it's worth rolling the dice and testing it out on the Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru ...

The LCBO prices on Belgian beer are insane.
another one listed yesterday: 9 bucks for Abbaye du val dieu grand cru
I'm starting to question why I drink anything other than Belgian imports...

While I hate 750 ml bottles, I have tried the stopper and drink the next day method. It works reasonably well for some beers but others become virtually undrinkable flat-sugar-candy messes. BUT, at this price point, its like buying a 375 so I'll buy a few.

I’ve been using a champagne bottle stopper on unfinished big bottles. Seems to work well
