Boxing Week at the LCBO

Having just returned I noticed some of the gift sets are starting to be marked down. The Corona was down $5 and the Hoegaarden was down $2, there were some others but I was overwhelmed by the crowds.

Depending how many/which gift packs I get for exmas, I'll most likely be hitting up the LCBO on the 27th or 28th to pick up a few bargains, or a second of anything particularly worthwhile. The only one I know I'm getting for sure is the 'old ale' mix pack (or whatever it was called).

There is also an event for the month of January. Every week, for 4 weeks, there will a select few items on sale. Crown ROyal, some berringer wines, smirnoff vodka.....so on a so forth.

500ml cans of Fullers porter are $2.25 per can right now.

If you want to see a list of all the beers on special at any given time, go to the product search page, select beer from the drop down menu, and click the limited time offers box.

Out of the 148 items on sale, 26 of them are beer.

London Porter, Devils Pale, Hobgoblin, Tankhouse, Schneider Weisse, and Youngs Double Chocolate are all on sale.

Can anyone give me the skinny on Spitfire or Kostritzer Schwarzbier? Are these worth the try?

Spitfire I'd say no to, unless you like bland English bitters (i.e. Bass). The Kostritzer Schwarzbier on the other hand is well worth a try. Basically a bottom fermented porter. I thought it was quite nice.
