Weren't there some spacer issues with the packaging last year, resulting in Orval or the agent being fined for non-compliant packaging? If so, they probably just said "screw this, we don't need the hassle".SteelbackGuy wrote:
Orval was never submitted by the agent for the spring release, and was therefore not considered.

Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

Well, we'll never know. It was never submitted.
If you`re reading this, there`s a 15% chance you`ve got a significant drinking problem. Get it fixed, get recovered!
I think last year the importer hinted 'this might be it for Orval folks' - in fact Weltenburger may have never been submitted either based on same.SteelbackGuy wrote:Well, we'll never know. In Beerum Veritas
This is some of the best news we could see. Sure an outstanding seasonal release once in a while is nice. However a general trend towards more craft beer on a whole is going to give long term results we can all enjoy. Thanks for the insight.Roland + Russell wrote:Oh, details and good news are coming and not only from R+R. 2009 was a very good year for craft beer in Ontario with several great dinners, arrival of DDC to LCBO, numerous high quality local brews and the rather significant demonstration of our collective buying power through the success of Ola Dubh and Creme Brulee. Altogether, it instills confidence in the minds and hearts of all of those who make decisions, one way or another, as to what else might be coming to this province. Early signs indicate that we are going to see more exclusive and superb products here, as well as some moves in establishing brands that already have had a product or two here. While this may not be always exciting, it helps to entice producers into doing business here.Ralphus wrote:You forgot the part with the details! In the meantime, there are many signs that promise that 2010 will be a good year for craft beer lovers across Ontario.
That means 80% of it would be delivered to my local LCBO, which would be pretty sweet!matt7215 wrote:bartle wrote:According to Josh Rubin we will be receiving the St. Ambroise Imperial Russian Stout!
Sometime around mid-march is estimated for release.
Great news!
unless it has ola dubh 40 style distrobution
Anyway, guess this means I can crack the bottle I have at home!
I really like this beer. I have had 2 so far, with still a couple left. If I'm able to pick up some more, I won't worry about rationing them!bartle wrote:According to Josh Rubin we will be receiving the St. Ambroise Imperial Russian Stout!

Late to this but I just have to add 2 cents for what it's worth in the hopes any LCBO buyers may lurk this site.
This spring release sucks! Quite possibly the lamest offerings yet for this time of year. There is NOTHING here that fits the bill as traditional spring beers - no saisons (Dupont), no maibocks, no Bière de Garde, no Bière De Printemps, cuvees, Irish reds or fruit lambics.
If they're going to assume the role of sole importer/retailer of specialty beers, one expects a degree of service and expertise.....none showing in this lame selection.
Looks like state side travel to fill the fridge this spring and I hope local brewers take up the slack the LCBO has left for spring beer releases.

Aventinus rules!
LCBO gets the last of the cases - 170 in total.bartle wrote:I'm wondering if they did another batch. Apparently only 9600 bottles.
Could be a very limited supply.
I picked up the Schneider’s Organic Wiesen Edel-Weisse while in Buffalo. It's hoppy & different. They actually use cascade hops in this one! Very drinkable... I'll be picking up a few.
I'm down to my last two Weltenburger... so if it wasn't for Amsterdam & Grand River, I'd probably be buying some more of the Hirsch... but I can't say I truly loved it.
