I got a 4 back of BCBS for US$24.99 in 2014, when they were in 12 oz bottles. Just walked into a bottle shop in Brooklyn and it was there.

From what I've read, generally it goes for $9.99 at bottle shops/grocery stores and $8.99 at Costco. 1 or 2 bottle limits... sometimes no limits. Depending on where you live, you do need to put in some time chasing it down and/or waiting in line. Shops and states are given higher allotments and more variants depending on how much regular Goose Island products they sell throughout the year. Michigan gets very little BCBS (and variants) because people aren't buying 312 and Honkers all year... they're buying Bells, Founders, Shorts, etc. This year Michigan shops only got regular and the barley wine. I think this is why you hear about it lingering on the shelves in places like rural Iowa or upstate NY or selling out super fast in places like Detroit. It doesn't get distributed to who wants it the most.

$10 USD is about $12 CAD. The LCBO's $22.90 price was no doubt a big mark up. However, I've always wanted to try it and waiting in line this morning was much less of a ball ache than driving to and around Buffalo. No regrets.

Pricing definitely varies from city to city and store to store within cities. I did the Buffalo drive around for the second year in a row and acquired three bottles, just as I did last year. Pricing was USD11.99 at one store, USD12.99 at another and I was lucky enough to acquire a Barleywine variant as my third bottle for either USD12.99 or USD13.99 - can't recall. I think I was able to make it to my first stop before I would have made it downtown TO leaving home (west Burlington) at the same time. At each store I went to, there was a one bottle limit, but most of my stops were sold out before I got there because allocations were low (with the exception of two stops, everywhere I stopped and asked had received between one and three 12-bottle cases). Allocations are apparently not dependent on regular annual GI purchases generally - it is specifically related to purchases of Matilda and Sofie. If a store doesn't carry either of these, I've been told that their chances of seeing a BCBS allocation is slim if not nil. Given LCBO purchases of these bottles (at least Sofie, which generally seems to be in large supply), I'm hopeful that this year's promotional roll out ends up in a big province-wide score next year.

The latest LCBO Food & Drink magazine featured KB and listed it at $14.95 for the 500ml version.

LOLOLOLOL! Smart move Nickel Brook. I'm on the verge of avoiding all their beers as they are being surpassed by better stuff and on top of that they are out-pricing themselves. If this is actually the new price, then I can honestly say go fuck yourselves Nickel Brook, and fucking LOL!

All their beer on shelves is either old as hell, the quality is slipping or they are just being lapped by everyone else. And then they go and do this.

Queue the "it's the cost of barrels and aging and blah blah blah". Their costs seem to always exceed that of everyone else for some reason. But it's so much better and worth it right? That's why last year's Winey was still sitting on shelves until a couple weeks ago right? Kentucky would be too if they didn't haul that off the shelves as well. Last year's wasn't even very good and I only bought a bottle because it was Christmas and I wanted to share it with my bro-in-law.

Out of their minds. But.... WAX DIPPED!

Popped into a local LCBO today (and last week, and the week before) to inquire on status and although it has a product number and is "in the system", no stock is showing in any warehouse as yet, so no store is able to order.

It doesn’t show up on the LCBO website. What’s the product number for CBS.

Picked up a few Backwoods Bastard. Very impressed, I don't drink too many beers of the style but it made me a fan.

No it's not. 1.27 today before the exchange differential + surcharge, so you're paying closer to $13 CAD to buy $10 USD or equivalent product.

It's there as of Saturday morning. Product number 530436.

Founders CBS is launching at Summerhill on Dec 13.

https://foundersbrewing.com/events/cbs- ... hill-lcbo/

Last bottled in 2011, CBS has become one of the most highly sought-after beers in the world and for good reason. It’s damn good. Join our CEO Mike Stevens and his team on December 13 at Summerhill LCBO for this very first Founders launch in Canada. Bottles will be available at Summerhill LCBO exclusively on December 13th, and will roll into other stores beginning December 14th. The doors open at 9:30AM, but the line-ups could start as early as 8:30AM. For more information on the Barrel-Aged Series, please visit our website: https://foundersbrewing.com/barrel-aged-series/

Seems like the price increase is related to this post from last year.

Looks like the Food & Drink listing wasn't correct: [NEW] Nickel Brook Kentucky Bastard: http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/nickel ... ard/543389 … ($12.95/500 mL bottle) Rated: 4.03/5 #beer #lcbo @NickelBrookBeer

Not as bad I guess.

Another screwup for the CBS At Summerhill today. The Founders website said that it would go on sale at 9:30 and to line up at 8:30. It has since been changed to 11:00 on their site. The good people at the LCBO were willing to sell to those silly few who got here before opening so that we wouldn’t have to wait another couple hours. They have stopped that and now anyone arriving will have to wait until 11:00 to buy. Probably sold about 8 to 10 cases prior to the halt. . On top of that, the night crew put it all out on the floor despite the fact that they were supposed to wait until 11:00. It has all been moved back into storage.

No limits to begin, but if it starts to sell too quickly they will begin to set limits, or so I overheard. So, if you need it today and want a lot, get here and line up. Or wait two weeks and buy a case when it has become a shelf turd.
