its just the same beer rebranded, rogue does that a lot
... they are infamous for it - sometimes disguised with a completely new name and graphic on the same beer. They even changed Yellow Snow from a juniper beer to an IPA, and renamed the former Juniper Pale Alle.
About the Brutal, it's usually fantastic fresh. The only time it was awful there was a global hop shortage and then the beer TASTED brutal (as did DFH 60.) The year following that it was extremely tasty with some good juicy hops.
Far from my favorite brewer (too gimmicky and heavily into marketing) but a handful of their beers really stand out (Mpcha Porter, Chocolate Stout & Brutal Bitter.)
Saw an ad in the Metro this morning for Founders Centennial and Phillips Hop Circle - said available now exclusively at the LCBO. Can't find it in the database yet though.

Thanks!

Yep - more vinegary sour comes out, and the barrel becomes a little more prominant as well, I found - if you like that sort of thing (which I do). I still have a few bottles from the last releases.

Excellent news! Between the spring release, the Dupont and Founders features, and stand-alone new listings, there's a LOT of interesting beers coming this season!

Yeah I saw a set-up in one of the LCBO's yesterday for "Hoppy Beers" where they had the label for Founders, West Coast, Mad Tom and Hop Circle displayed. Now they are just waiting for product!
Good prices too considering. Founders is $13.50/6 pack and I think Hop Circle is @ the same.

I just had one of these January bottles...not as good as I remember last year's batch, maybe too young? It seemed a little thinner and not as sour as I remember.

It's also 9.0 as opposed to 8.0 abv in previous years. (on a similar note, Amsterdam Spring Bock is back and it's now 7.8%)

I found exactly the same....so I'm going to let the other bottle sit for a while and see if that helps! It's certainly 'fresher' than most stuff that lands at the LCBO....

Over the weekend, I noticed a shelf tag for the Founders Centennial at the Manulife Center, although there were no bottles. So either they plan to get it in soon or they already sold out. Given that no inventory is listed in the system, I think/hope it's the former.
