Thanks for the tip! This is a great summer beer. I don't think I could get tired of trying new saisons.

Ahh, 'product existence denials.' I do know the Rochefort here exists, if hard to believe it's only ten bucks to buy four.

But even better: Queens Quay listed 144 in stock. Awesome. Except, again, none to be found. I asked one of the guys and firstly, he had no idea what the beer was. And then he checked their in-store stock on one of the little handheld zappers by product number and it read zero. His explanation: they all sold already.

I really have trouble believing that 144 bottles of this beer were sold from one store in 24 hours. But what do I know? I ain't even mad.
Queens Quay shows stock of 0 today, so it's possible they actually did sell out entirely. Maybe someone was stocking up for a bar or something and just bought everything they had? Queen and Cox still shows stock. They were probably just too lazy to get it from the back for you.

Same deal for me, except for Rochefort 8.

"Quantity on Hand - 48"

None to be found...I asked, they checked, confirmed, but still had no idea.
Inventory counts on the LCBO site are updated nightly, so they are 12h or so behind. In my experience, when something is not on shelves, it's because they haven't put it out yet. While it's possible someone buys the whole stock (more so in really high profile releases), it's never been my experience. I will never leave a store without getting a answer one way or the other. If it updates to 0 the next day, they legitimately don't have it.

That said, I'm picking up some Iron Throne, TDD Handshake, and Nogne Saison today at my LCBOs, hopefully I don't get too much run-around.

Also, wondering if anyone has any knowledge on Flying Monkeys City & Colour release?

For the Rochefort 8:

Sweet mama!

On Hand
1. TORONTO-CENTRAL 10 SCRIVENER SQUARE
YONGE & SUMMERHILL
416-922-0403 Jun 20, 2013 Qty on hand 808

Here I thought I finally got in on something that would sell out in a heartbeat. I guess it's no 3F.

Well, compared to Westy and 3F, Rochefort 8 is usually pretty easy to drop out to a bar and drink. Sure it's not at this price, usually like $8 a bottle (I'm thinking of Sin & Redemption), but that's not that much more than Volo charges for a tulip of anything, so it's not really that much more than drinking any other beer when at a bar. There is a difference between a beer being a really good deal and much cheaper than, say, across the boarder, and the beer being usually pretty unobtainable. Not saying it should be collecting dust - especially at that price - but it isn't quite the same kind of rarity, though it is certainly of similar quality.

I have had experiences where a 'new' beer that I'm looking for will show up at a store in a quantity of, say, 48. If I go the next day and can't find it, I'll inquire and explain that they just got it in the day before. Almost always I've had good service with someone looking for it and finding it.

One time was a little funny. The woman was gone for some time. I went to the door to the back and it had a window. I could see the beer I wanted right there. When she came in sight, I opened the door and told her it was there.

A lot of you seem to have had bad service. I really only experienced it one time where the guy refused to go look for beer that I was sure was there.

Not sure I saw it at the coop, I did get Nøgne Ø Saison from Roncesvalles-Bloor, and Shawinigan from Cooper St.

And Cooper now has four Renaissance beers, for those who still seek Perfection in a less than perfect retail system.

According to Brian: "Just a small project for the great people of Wallaceburg. Only available at TBS in Wallaceburg". So, unless you're in W-burg, no such luck. Bummer, I'd like to try this as I've really been digging the Scottish Ale recently, and although the Twisted Spruce seems like it has no idea what a conifer even is, it's still an enjoyable "golden ale". Hoping the Smoked Porter gets a fall/winter LCBO listing.

Y&SH had a big display up for it and Liberty Village had a sign posted in the window that it was in stock - I don't know if I've ever seen an LCBO put up a little sign saying something was in stock - ever.

It's selling, I'd wager, largely on the gimmick that it's Game of Thrones, not that it's Ommegang.
