Picked one up tonight and plan to crack it tomorrow - hopefully it's better this year.spinrsx wrote:Anyone here had a 2014 nicklebrook kentucky bastard yet? Noticed lots of glowing reviews on untappd
FWIW - The regular beer I find much better this year, too. I think a show down between that and Hellwoods is in order.

Nickel Brook is so good. Good for them.
I think Bellwoods is at the head of the class in Toronto, but it's a pain getting down to the bottle shop most of the time. The last time I went down was when they released the Lambda.
As for the LCBO, Nickel Brook and Great Lakes are quickly becoming my favourites. Go-to reweries that I can fully trust, and am totally willing to accept a few missteps from along the way.
Flying Monkeys certainly ain't no slouch either.

Had me at pilsner, lost me at gluten free. Which, I supposed merits mentioning: this is a gluten free product.spinrsx wrote:new at TBS:
Mongozo Premium Pilsner
Brewery Huyghe
4.5% 330ml Price: $3.15
Sadly the three gluten grains barley, wheat and rye make the wonderful flavor of beer. Other grains plus buckwheat need a lot of help covering up the nasty.groulxsome wrote:Had me at pilsner, lost me at gluten free. I wish people using clarity ferm could just go ahead and call their beer gluten free. Stupid FDA...Belgian wrote:Sadly the three gluten grains barley, wheat and rye make the wonderful flavor of beer. It won't blow your mind, but for the price it's an ok Belgian-style blonde. Not as good as Unibroue's offerings of that tilt, but I liked it more than Affligem/Leffe-type stuff, for whatever that's worth.Lukie wrote:Saw this the other day at my TBS along with the Witte

Haven't had the witte yet but I liked the blonde enough to probably pick it up eventually.
