Not sure if it was just a bad bottle but my Gregorius needed a knife and fork because it had great chunks swirling from the bottom. OK with some sediment in bottle conditioned beers but this was downright ugly.

The Stone and Cigar City beers were canned in late February (29th I believe), and the Deschutes was canned on March 3rd. I bought all three on one of my only trips to the 'BO in the last few months and, stupidly, didn't check the dates until I got home. The Deschutes and Cigar City are drinking decent. The Stone didn't do much for me, but I wasn't a huge fan of it when consumed fresh in the States, either. Hope that helps.

A few months ago there was a new listing for a Joseph Bloor Bohemian Pilsner. It appeared that it was only available on-line, not in stores.

Now there is a new listing for the same beer - new product number. Just came on, no stock showing.

De Moersleutel Rusty Brown Ale

This is stellar. In spite of the intense flavours and gently warm alcohol, I find this deceptively drinkable. Deep rich toffee-caramel, dark dried fruits, and some dry hop and roast balance. Hints of Demerara sugar and even umami leathery note. The flavours are looong in this one...

Weird side note: I was really craving fresh dill weed (who doesn't?) and today I made poached rainbow trout with it. The sourness of the lemon and yogurt in the sauce and pungent dill nicely sets off the Imperial Brown perfectly. Unexpected harmony.

Easy going, should probably be served very cold, like many trendy examples is very tart and lemony and a bit salty, and not so much funk or complexity or interest. As with Ciders, it's hard to find a good Gose with identity and character. I do like the acidic aftertaste.
