Picked up the Jan 6th batch, colour me disappointed, yes is 'hoppy' but dominated by the bittering hops, no complexity, just bitterness.

Lagunitas IPA
LCBO#: 433516 | 6 x 355 mL bottle
$14.95 a six pack and another beer that will be "Stone Beered" in other words. "left to age gracefully"

According to the LCBO site:

6 x 355 mL bottle
Alcohol/Vol6.2%
Made in : Illinois, USA By: Lakefront Brewery, Inc.
Style: Medium & Hoppy

Huh? Brewed under license?

Looks like the first generation of successful crafters are looking to grow their production and markets, and the LCBO makes for a hefty dumping ground...

Lagunitas has a brewery in Illinois...I'm not sure if that is one and the same as Lakefront? Also Heineken owns a 50% stake, so maybe they're brewing in some other facilities?

How does one brewery get 4 listings at once?

Maybe these are headed to grocery and these are the LCBO numbers for the pick list.

Does Trafalgar stuff sell well at the LCBO? They never seem to have any trouble getting new beers in, often several at a time like this.

Really?? Ok, Charcoal Porter isn't bad, surprising it made it into the LCBO as it was made for the Charcoal Group restaurants.I personally have not liked anything hop forward they have made, and that's after giving it another chance after I was told "it's better now."

Fucking hell, K-W is driving me crazy in a way right now. Maybe it's because I only go to the one place (out of many, now). I go once a week, it's my "Cheers", they know my name, there's other regulars, they know me, I know them, one of them used to post here often, but he's made it clear that he fucking hates most of you, and me probably included.

I get personal tastes and whatnot, but if you ask for something hoppy, but not too bitter, and I recommend something from Great Lakes (really wish I remembered which beer), and you take two sips and say "eww, it's too bitter" and give it to your boyfriend, and then order an Innocente, fuck you.

It's been mentioned before, and maybe personality has played into it before, but I'm not a complete asshole, I still gave it another shot, but the results were the same...so...you can still be an ass and make not good beer, to my tastes at least.

end fucking rant...

As well as the Charcoal Porter, I really liked Innocente Pilsner on the one occasion I had it last fall. I agree about their hop forward ales, not my thing, but I will give them another chance if they come to LCBO.

Had the charcoal porter last night and it was decent but it tasted far more like black lager then a porter.

Best BA stout I've had this winter. Had it side-by-side with Double Tempest and Innocente was hands down better.

Also I really like their IPA and DIPA. Absolutely more bitter than most (so saying GLB is bitter than ordering an Innocente is stupid), however more complexity too. I find too many IPA's are just watery hop juice nowadays.
