Apparently Queen and Coxwell is a NO GO now as well if you didn't already grab a ticket. They only had 36 cases.

I have no problems with people waiting in multiple lines and getting multiple packs. The only way the LCBO could have done this better is have all the releases on the same day.

Some fool wants to wake up and get in line in the wee hours of the morning on multiple days to get a beer. More power to them.

So since I will be getting the second box for my friend and won't be splitting up the one I have with him, I have been authorized by my girlfriend (she's primarily drinking the Westys) that I can trade a glass and two bottles for something. I originally had a deal with tuqueboy for a trade but he's got his own box now.

I'm not looking to make out like a bandit or anything, I just want something interesting that we haven't had before and likely not to get, that would be a fair trade and would help out a fellow Bartoweller. No IPAs, double IPAs, barleywines or Belgian stuff (aside from Cantillon.) I live and work in downtown Toronto. PM me with any trade offers.

Agreed, having all the releases on the same day would've been ideal.

Got that right - maybe I'm just getting old, but after yesterday I couldn't imagine doing that again, for a beer that I already bought.

Westy 8 one day and 12 the next? Maybe. :P

(no -probably not even that)

No problem with people getting two packs for themselves on two different days - They aren't the real scoundrels buying 7 or 8 and selling on ebay.

My only hope for those folks is that 1) they don't like beer 2) they can't find any buyers to take it.

I doubt either of those would be true though.

If you showed up at RBC after 6:15 this morning you were outta luck. Shocked at how many people without tickets stayed in line after the 40 available were handed out at 8 a.m.

Got a friend in line for me at Kingston. She got there at 8:15 and was 15th in line. They're supposed to have 60 cases. Line continues to grow.

Fuck, glad I left. I figured RBC wouldn't have that many available.

I've accepted a trade offer so no more PMs. Thanks.

RBC was actually 38- I assume the other two were purchased by staff. I assume the fact that you get to wait indoors contributed to the insanely early line.

Hello bartowel, long-time lurker first-time poster after a long, long wait for activation. Been reading this thread to my entertainment (since my anxiety level diminished having procured my brick at Queens Quay on Wednesday).

Despite the phenomenal errors in judgement regarding demand, distribution (uncoordinated releases, unknown dates/not forthcoming, lack of lottery), the buck passing from call-the-office to call-the-stores, I have to say something here that I think has been underemphasized:

Us beer geeks (and trend-hoppers) aren't the only ones who have been put out by this. There were many LCBO employees with grins and cordial assistance, answering hundreds of phone calls, and arriving at work many hours early braving the cold and lack of information for them as well. The vast majority of them were simply EXCELLENT. One (despite telling me to call back) was remarkably rude - obviously annoyed at the head office, but pissy to customers - though the majority have done the best they can in a difficult situation.

One store manager at a tiny rural LCBO near my home tried her hardest to get me a special order, and when it didn't happen (though we had never met) she offered to have her son stand in line and procure me a case (an offer I couldn't in good faith accept). I called her yesterday to inform her I'd gotten one and to thank her for all of her efforts on my behalf - fruitless though they may have been. She sounded about as thrilled as I was and genuinely shared in my appreciation. That is truly above and beyond the call of duty!

Guelph report - Got the Stone Rd LCBO at 6:10 am this morning. Was #13 in line, first one there at 3am. They rec'd 36, no breakage. line was full by about 7:30, about 20 extra people stuck around until 9:45 when the numbers were handed out, despite being told on numerous occasions by LCBO staffers that there were indeed only 36.
