Who's the importer on this one again?TwoPint wrote:Picked up a six of Immortal in the east end this morning. No date on it. It's full of crap in suspension. What a disappointment.

I caved and bought a six, should be enjoying one shortly.nickw wrote:I'm drinking one right now. Not great, but not that bad. Definitely not full of sediment either.
I believe I passed a Hamilton BT'er in the parking lot at Dundurn about 830 pm or so, who also bought a sixer and was kind enough to leave one.
Mucho Gracias Amigo!

Finished my last one last night and thought the same thing. The stuff the the LCBO is from the first shipment, as far as I can tell.mixedup wrote:Not sure if the Centennial that's floating around is from the first shipment, but I just finished the last of my 6 last night that was and it was already on the 'stale' side. Probably sat in the LCBO warehouse for a couple months before hitting the shelves.
As for the Immortal, I wish NAC had learned from the first Green Flash shipment: don't send the entire shipment to sit in a warehouse and wait for testing. Send the minimum requirement, get your approve, then order from the brewery.
I used to sell beer. Now I don't.

My batch like others was pkged on Feb 5 and has a best before of June 5.
I had picked it up last week of March, so 7 weeks from packaging.
Im no expert but I enjoyed it as others did around the dinner table
Heading down to Michigan soon so I will look to see what the local stuff is dated.
Beware. I'd made the assumption that beer direct from the brewery is as fresh as you can hope for but the refrigerated Pale Ale I got at the Founders store in Grand Rapids last week was dated 12/14/12. And the Crooked Tree IPA from the Dark Horse store in Marshall was undated and stale.Ukie wrote:Heading down to Michigan soon so I will look to see what the local stuff is dated.

Same here. Thin layer off sediment in the bottom of each bottle. Requiring a very steady home brewers pour not to dislodge. A very drinkable IPA with a mild hop taste, not exactly what I look for in an IPA, especially one with a name like "immortal".squeaky wrote:The 6 Immortals I picked up last night had a bunch of sediment that looked like it had sat for quite a while. It had formed into flakes/sheets, rather than being granular, if that makes any sense at all. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not hopeful for it's freshness.
I admit I just brought my 'floaties' sixer right back to the store, since I've got plenty of (good fresh) IPAs on the go...
It is incumbent on the import & retail system to supply these type beers fresh & undamaged as possible, because there's little point to having them otherwise. Luckily the overall situation seems to be getting better.

I just took a careful look at a sixer of Immortal at a local store. Gave one bottle a gentle shake. Absolutely packed with floaties, like a snow globe. Quite obvious even through the brown glass. If you're buying, I'd advise trying hard to not disturb it on the way home, and/or letting it settle for a good amount of time.
