My wife got the 6 brit beers as an early birthday gift this week. Have had most of these but i always liked the brakspear. Might just be the Jon Walker influence though...

I saw it yesterday, and while I don't remember all of them, it's six beers from their core line-up - Maudite, Fin du Monde, Ephemere Pomme, Blanche, etc.

The other two are Trois Pistoles and Don de Dieu... I'd like to try Don de Dieu but I doubt I'll buy this pack just to try one.

I'll definitely be buying this pack too. Marston may be a bit mediocre these days but the others are all solid session bitters, and we don't get enough of those these days. I couldn't give a fig how they might be ranked on RB or BA.

Yeah - We are a little under-served in the English bitter/PA department. Which is why it's nice to see McLean's and Granite Peculiar in bottles these days.

Saison DuPont Avec Les Bons Voeux magnum ($25)
InBev "beers of Belgium" w/ Stella, Hoegaarden and (new this year) Leffe Royale.
Samuel Smith w/ the pint glass (India Ale, Organic Chocolate, Oatmeal Stout)
St. Bernardus (6 pack w/ 6, 8, 12, Wit, Watou, Tripel)
Wychwood mix featuring Hobgoblin, Scarecrow, Dr. Thirsty, and "Imperial" Red (4.7%)
A new British mixer featuring Hobgoblin, a Brackspear, Marstons, and three other offerings I can't remember off the top of my head...
The same old Belgian packs (Bieres du Bucanniers, Van Steenberge)

The Shepard Neame Christmas, Nogne Underling Jul, St Peters Winter, Sam Smith Winter Welcome, Wychwood Bah Humbug are already on shelves too.
Did the St. Bernies come with a chalice? I cannot find any of these on the crummy BO site.
No, St B mix pack is sans glassware. Apparently the gift packs won't be on the website for another week. So it's a crapshoot on which stores have whatever at this point.

Anyone in the Guelph to London corridor that's seen the Bons Voeux magnum on the shelf, could you let me know what store? Thanks!
Matt: I was at the lcbo in Waterloo,King and William. They had about 8 bottles of the Bons Voeux on the shelf

After having been out to the LCBO now and seen the holiday packs out on the shelves...I have to admit, the excitement I usually get when I SEE all the packs with their great beer / glass combos ... didnt exist this year.

I found myself holding a Railway City pack....as it had a glass at least...but thinking "this is no duvel, chimay, westmalle..."

Grabbed the St Bernardus stuff and left at least not 100% dejected.

So... no Bernardus glass?

And what's in the mix pack again?

I seem to vaguely recall some weak-minded 'green' initiative to reduce packaging and so on, this may be incorrect but it rings true (after all, how much paper and packaging is really wasted arouns Xmas time, ever? Virtually none! ;) I think I was having a laugh that at least Gift Packs are recyclable to a higher than usual degree, not to say cost-efficient and practical, so their province-wide elimination was misguided & has likely more to do with idle hands making busy work/making the LC appear 'virtuous'.)

Basically the two Tripels, Wit and the 6,8, and 12.

Highly recommend to those curious.

The St Bernardus Mixed Pack is probably the best six pack I've ever seen on the LCBO shelves. Quite a nice little collection.

Anyone know where to find of list of other holiday gift packs, i.e. spirits and wines?

There are some that look nice (the glenlivit looks like it has some nice glassware) but I'd like to know if they're all out yet and what exactly is out there.

(Edit: LCBO just updated their website, so it has a little holiday tab where you can find other gift sets.)

And cheaper than many other places around the world. It is 50% more expensive in the U.S.

I picked up a different Bernardus holiday pack in Buffalo a few years ago that DID have a glass, so I'm happy that my Bernies will be enjoyed in a proper glass, despite the LCBO trying to thwart me.
