Nickel Brook Bolshevik Bastard Vertical

Post by DaveBar »

Opened a 4yr old and a 1.5yr old bottle. Here's the differences.......

Appearance
4yr old- Low carbonation. Poured hard and it was a 1/2" high
1.5yr old- High carbonation. Poured a 2.5" high head

Smell comparison
Pretty much the same except the 1.5yr old had a metallic scent

Taste
4yr old- Smooth, smooth, smooth. Super blended and mellow. Coffee and chocolate
1.5yr old- Very similar to the 4yr old. A touch of heat left. Other than that very similar just not as smooth as the 4yr old

Overall
The changes are subtle but noticeable. Is it worth sitting on brew for 4yrs+? To some degree. This RIS aged ok at best.

Enjoy!
