Just read this on the Saint Arnould site...the Unibroue 10 (for the 10th anniversary), a 10% alc. beer, has just got out in Quebec...

Will it be distributed at the LCBO or the Beer store? Lets see. From what they say, its in limited quantity.

Cheers from Ottawa/Aylmer QC

When I was chatting with Steve Thibault (Unibroue's Ontario rep) at the Toronto beer fest this summer, he mentioned that the 10th anniversary beer was not coming out in Ontario.

Definitely a shame, looks like I'm going to have to take a trip to Montreal...

Although I've been too busy with my dissertation as of late to get a Premier e-brewletter out about the holiday beers, I saw this thread and wanted to let you guys know that Unibroue 10 is due to arrive at Premier this coming Monday (11/26). I believe we are getting 15 cases...

I know we won't see it around at the LCBO. But there is a possibility that some Toronto licensees might get it. I know Smokeless is very interested.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find 10 in the Hull area? Educated guesses would be appreciated also. I have someone in Ottawa looking for me. He's been to two SAQ's, two dépanneurs, and a grocery store to no avail. I'm interested in the beer, of course, but I would really like to get my hands on the gift pack as well.

Timely replies would be appreciated. I have two days before he leaves for Christmas.

Cheers, and thanks in advance, Joe

Try the Jovi Market on Begin Street. Take any bridges across the Outaouais, make a left on Laurier which will become Taché. After 5 minutes, you will see a Subway restaurant in a little shopping centre on your right. This means Bégin is a couple of blocks away. At Bégin, turn left and you cant miss it. Best choice of micros in the Outaouais (Unibroue, RJ, Nouvelle France, and Belgian imports). They are liquidating belgian beers at this time...just step in the cold room!

Thanks for the directions Lubiere. My parents are spending a couple of days over the Christmas break in Ottawa, and I wanted them to cross to Hull to pick me up some beers.

Do you have any recommendations of Quebec micros worth picking up?

If I were you I would order a case of Seigneuriale Reserve anytime. This is a top of the line brew, would stand up to a Chimay Blue anytime.

I used to be the Ontario agent for Seigneuriale before they were acquired by Sleemans. With all due respect, their Reserve is a good beer but not in the class of Chimay Blue...at least that's my opinion and I could be wrong!

Well the Seigeuriale are good, but i dont remember seeing them at Jovi. They have all unibroue (including la Bolduc), McAuslan,Cheval Blanc (try the Achouffe blonde and Brune--They ahave a special X-mas box set with a glass!) they have the Nouvelle France which are not too bad but nothing to compare with the 10.

If they are going to Mtl, tell them to go to Joanette in Verdun (on de l'Église, South of Wellington). That is the best place for micros in Quebec! Try to get some Schoune beer (if you like Belgian) and Golden Lion /Lion d'or(Brit Style)!

I thought the Seingeuriale Reserve was sold through SAQ myself, while the others were at the grocery stores. At any rate, it may not be Chimay Blue, but they're both in my Top 100 so you wouldn't be hurting yourself to try it.

Other recommendations if you can find them are the beers of Microbrasserie Charlevoix, which I find better than Nouvelle France, though certainly not in Unibroue's league.
