Dieu du Ciel Aphrodisiaque
Finally got the opportunity to have this at Beer Bistro ($11 a bottle).
On paper this always looked like a beer I would like. Imperial Stouts are a particular favourite and love real Vanilla in anything. I didn't think they went together until I tried the Vanilla Three Floyds Dark Lord.
I can say that this is a VERY heavy tasting beer. Amazing for 6.5%.
I was not disappointed.
I've never been able to get this beer in Ontario or Buffalo which I can't say for almost any other beer so I highly recommend any who wants to try this and not want to drive 5 hours to Montreal to go grab one at Beer Bistro.
Also the St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, which is a regular of mine, is sooo much better on draught, which they have at Beer Bistro.
Cheers,
ST

They usually have it in Buffalo, at both Premiere and Village. But they have to call it "Aphrodite." Don't know why. About six bucks, if I recall correctly.

Totally different beer on tap - way better. A little disappointing in bottles I thought, especially after having it on tap.Bobsy wrote:Its coming into the LCBO at the end of Summer for a brewery feature along with a few other DDC offerings. Great beer, but it tastes really different (and sublime) on tap, unless my mind's playing tricks on me.
I believe its:biegaman wrote:Sweet! That just made my day. I love the Aphrodisiaque. Rob, any updates as to what others beers will be featured?Bobsy wrote:Its coming into the LCBO at the end of Summer for a brewery feature along with a few other DDC offerings.
Aphrodisiaque
Péché Mortel (also in christmas release)
Route Des Épices
Corne du Diable (also in fall release)
Blanche du Paradis
Rosée D'hibiscus
With Solstice d'hiver appearing in the winter release.
I'm really glad the LCBO has decided to start these brewery spotlights, and hopefully this is the first of many that we'll see. Huge thanks to HMH and Tomas in particular for their commitment and vision in improving Ontario's beer scene and making these great beers available to us! I think this spotlight will be a huge success, and I encourage everyone to go out, grab these great beers and support positive change at the LCBO.
I have more of this beer on hand than I can use, so if anyone wants a 6 pack I will sell it at cost, $15. It has been unrefrigerated in my cool basement for 6 months - bottles from another 6 pack with same history are fine. Pick up at my place, central Toronto, cash. Send PM if interested. Will trade for Alpha King .

I saw a side to side picture comparison of Aphrodisiaque/Aphrodite and I never realized they had reduced the amount of subtle cleavage in the Aphrodite version.icemachine wrote:The Aphrodisiaque/Aphrodite label is due to government commissars fearing people will buy the beer as a sexual performance enhancer
Scandalous!

I believe the fine print on the Aphrodisique states, that if your erection lasts for more than 4 hours, seek medical help immediately.devonsleigh wrote:When I drank it in Montreal I was able to maintain a 24 hour erection. I had one this weekend and I was flacid all night. That you LCBO for looking out for me.
