I was pleasantly surprised to see La Chouffe bottle conditioned Blonde on LCBO shelves recently. It's one of my favorite Belgian ales so I put a few in to cellar.

If you haven't tried this great little double fermented ale in a while you may want to reacquaint yourself with its bright spicy character and fruity finish...easy drinking for an 8% ale. I wish it was a stock item.

Great to see that back at the LCBO! I'll stock up next time I head down south. I'm a huge fan of their Double IPA triple as well, which you can get at the SAQ if you're every in Quebec. Again very easy drinking for something that comes in around the 8 - 9 % range.

Both La Chouffe and Houblon IPA Tripel are staples in my fridge.

Last month I went to a Duvel-Moortgat beer tasting that had Chris Bauwereaert, creater of Achouffe, as the guest speaker. The passion he had for beer was infectious. He had some really interesting insights into modern brewing too. He was talking about his admiration of the boundaries that are being pushed in the US, but thought that many of the young upstart breweries could brew even better beer if they didn't settle for such dodgy brewing equipment and less than rigerous brewing technique. I guess the Houblon is what you get when you marry the innovative new school with the respect for old school.

Distribution on this one seems to be heavily focused on western Ontario:

Any idea if it'll creep eastwards? I'd love to pick some up.

It's part of the Holiday Gift Packs & Ales release, so it should have pretty wide distribution.
