Perhaps with age it would be better integrated. I passed on the variants.

I'm guessing the $17 price tag had something to do with it. That certainly was for me to stay away. BOYD was $14 and even that was too much for me.
I tried a few of Bellwoods stuff and although I thought they were decent, I deemed they were never good enough to justify their prices.
I'd rather spend my bucks in replenishing my shrinking stock of Backwoods Bastard.
El Pinguino wrote:$12 a bottle for 500ml is ok for me. At $14-15, it has to be a special annual / one-time brew. Above $15 for that volume of beer, it's not something I expect to pay often, given how many beer options are out there.

Ya, that price...woof.
I've heard that from many beer people that the price is just too rich for them. Myself, only 1 of each is enough at $17.

There are some extremely satisfactory options in stouts and porters right now. Ten Fidy, wow. To Øl Black Ball Porter is just so nice. Stouts like Founders are landscape-changers. Haven't even tried the Yeti yeti, and of course the Great Lakes 30th BBA RIS is stunning (and worth the bomber price.)
Bellwoods stuff is of course very special when they hit it just right. Same with Burdock. I envy us.
