Yeast harvesting
I have a carboy of WL530 that I`m going to rack to secondary next weekend. It`s been very active for a week and I`m planning to put another beer on the yeast cake and harvest some yeast beforehand. What methods do you use to get yeast from a carboy? Sterilize the mouth and pour some into a sterilized jar and pour the suspended yeast into a new jar once the trub has settled?

heres my method.
leave about an inch of beer above the trub in the carboy.
swirl the carboy to combine beer and trub and pour into a clean santized growler, seal with airlock.
on brewday swirl the growler to recombine at the start of your boil.
once the wort is cool pitch the liquid from your recently swirled growler leaving behind what has settled out.

Thanks Matt, this has been fermenting for a week and a half and the airlock is still popping every thirty seconds at least.
