Brew Kettle suggestions

Post by Craig »

Hi guys,

I've done a few batches of beer in an old aluminum canning pot which turned out fine, but I'm getting sick of mucking about with racking canes and floating thermometers and the like. I'd like to step up to a proper brew kettle with ball-valve and integrated thermometer (do those actually work?) and whatnot.

My trouble is I'm having a hard time finding anything online or that will ship affordably. I never brew batches larger than 5 gal, so I don't need anything too ridiculous. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is probably your cheapest option in Ontario:

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Affordability, while a bonus, isn't the prime consideration for me. I'd pay more for a nicer unit.

I don't have one of those, but from the people I know who do have them they are quite happy with the quality.

At the other end of the spectrum are the Blichmann kettles. While very nice, they kind be pricey for some.

I've got the OBK 9gal and I'm happy with it, it's got what I need (maybe minus the sight glass). Though those Blichmanns are pretty sweet set-ups and if money is not the issue, they're known as the best around.
