haven't yet, but it's on my TODO list. need a few things that he has at about 60% of the price from CHS, so I'll be getting them, just a matter of when...

I love how things have evolved in Ontario lately, the prices from OBK and TorontoBrewing have made Ontario one of the cheapest places to homebrew. Our prices are similar, if not better, than the big USA store like B3 and MW/NB.

yeah, it's a far cry from when i needed to make trips to detroit and niagara falls for most of my supplies, and last minute recipe changes were pretty much out of the question unless i had previously bought extra of something. it was always fun trying to plan out a full year's brewing and stock up in the spring...

Online stores are great, but I still wish there was a good bricks & mortar store in Toronto. I had my family gift me a bunch of carboys this year just because they live in Kingston & Guelph so they have like 5 choices each to pick one up and not pay the killer shipping. My parents literally have two shops across the street from each other right down the road from their house.

It's so strange that homebrew supply shops just don't seem to exist inside the city.

Something south of the 401 would be nice.

It would be, but this is still a huge step forward compared to driving to Brampton. I think Toronto's homebrew culture needs to grow more before it can support a store of the required size in those higher rent areas of Toronto. These stores need pretty big buildings to store all the inventory.

yeah, but there are like 10 vinbon's around, not to mention other random wine shops. if it's not something beer-specific (like grain/hops/yeast), just go there. I buy all my carboys from a local vinbon, and as a bonus most of the time he's got a few used ones around that i can get for about $20 a pair - just need a little soak to clean 'em up.

anything within a 30min drive is more than enough to satisfy me. Online shops are nice and all, but I ain't ordering yeast or hops from them unless the weather is just right (so about 2 weeks out of the year).

I have 18 cases of that bottle downstairs... easiest label to remove (and I've tried TDD, LTM, Hill Farmstead, Sawdust/Charlevoix) is by far Les Trois Mousquettaires. A little water and the thing just peels off.

To get them I went to a Quebec specialty store, and the guy calls me whenever they get a return of a 24. I just have to pay the consignment on it (roughly 2.40$ per case).

Easier even is just to call the brewery, say you're a home brewer and purchase a few new cases + tip or beer purchases to thank them.

These bottles are kick-ass... heavy gage, good serving size, easy to cap and clean...

FYI, I'm organizing a bulk bottle buy on the SOB site, including 375ml belgian bottles and 12oz longnecks to start, expanding as interest appears. http://areyouansob.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=2310

are the 375ml belgian bottles cap or cork? I'll probably be interested in getting in on the order either way.

both cappable and corkable, standard caps. http://www.unitedbottles.com/en/biereci ... n-033.aspx

case of 12 is $7.28 without shipping, around $8.58 with shipping (and will go down if we end up with more than one pallet).

we're over a pallet, so i've opened it up for 750ml belgians (champagne style, corkable or cappable) and 22oz bombers too. will also drop the shipping cost a little too if we can fill the second one.
