Buffalo Brewfest - Sat Sept 17th - road trip?

Post by GregClow »

The annual Buffalo Brewfest is taking place on Saturday, September 17th at the Buffalo Pier Festival Grounds.

I've never been to this festival myself, but I've heard good things about it. If they keep the same format as in past years, it will feature 100+ beers (mostly micros from throughout New York State), with unlimited sampling once you've paid the grounds admission fee.

I'm interested in going this year, and thought I'd put out the idea of a group road trip. Anyone else thinking of going, and interested in car-pooling or something like that?

I'm in... as long as we stay overnight. Copious quantities of drinking followed by travelling in a vehicle for hours doesn't mix well with me!

Unless it's the Magic Bus... then I'm fine with it!

So are any Bartowellers heading down to the Buffalo fest? I'm thinking about heading down on Saturday morning and staying overnight.

I'll be on a plane back from San Diego next Saturday, so I'll unfortunately be missing it. I think there are a few Towellers planning on heading down, though.

I'm going with two other Bar Towellers. I'll be staying at the Adam's Mark. It's relatively close to the event, though nothing is really close to the event.

Cheers,

Joe.

It's a perfect time to buy some US currency too :)
As of this morning, $1.00 CAD = $0.850122 USD

Off the top of my head, that looks to be similar to last year's lineup, which I quite enjoyed. Too bad that Flour City has gone out of business, I really enjoyed their 4 offerings they had available for sample last year.

I hope those that go have a great time.

For those that are going, how are you getting your tickets? It doesn't seem to matter whether it's at the door, or in advance, since the advance tickets end up with surcharges that make it $50 for 2 tickets anyway. Any concern about a sellout?

I was able to buy mine at the door last year. Am planning to do the same this year.

I bought the tickets online with the will call option. Same price as at the door so why take the chance.

BTW. Has anyone checked out Consumer's Beverage in Amherst for micros? It's not far from premiere gourmet and apparently much cheaper.

Well, as always seems to be the case with Buffalo, I didn't make it again. Hope you guys enjoyed it. I did, however, make it to the Judge and picked up 2 tickets for Oct. 1st. I also had to send back a Wunder Weisse that was off. Bill said it was almost a full keg too. I don't know what happened there, but it had a kind of slight sewage taste and smell. Not pleasant.
