I'm going to both days so I hope to god that it doesn't all go on the Saturday, but I only mentioned as a passing 'joke' coz I have a feeling that the Saturday is going to go real well, and a lot of beer is going to be downed. I've been to a few festivals in the UK where even on the first night, if an ale is that good it can actually sell out in one session, rare but it does happen. If it is a real good small festival then not much is ever left over for the latter days.

I really feel that what Ralph is doing here is the kick up the backsides that this Province needs to be given. It gets the brewers competing and coming out with special brews and that can only be good news for us ale drinkers and the future of real ale as a serious proposition. Hoorah!!!!

Here’s the latest from Ralph:

Tickets.

Saturday is sold out!. 22 tickets left for Sunday. Looks like we’ll be selling out – wow.

The Beer

More additions, we’re up to 21 casks!. They keep coming in, how can we say no. Some casks will be available on different days. We’ve done the math and don’t anticipate anything running out on Sat -- apparently this is a possibility, but don’t worry, Ralph’s got a plan. Here's the revised List:

Saturday

Denisons's Dunkel
Heritage Dark
King Pilsner
C'est What Al's Cask Ale
Maclean's Pale Ale
Mill St. Tankhouse Ale
Scotch Irish Sgt Major IPA
Trafalgar Abbey Belgian Ale
St Andre - TBA
Wellington Iron Duke Strong Ale
Granite's Peculiar Strong Ale (aged in whiskey barrels)
F&M's Dark Ale
Neustadt 10w30 Brown Ale
Black Oak Nut Brown Ale (aged in whiskey barrels)

Sunday

Heritage Blackcurrent Rye
F&M Pilsner
Black Oak Pale Ale
Wellington Arkell Best Bitter
Church Key Holy Smoke
Granite IPA
Scotch Irish Sgt Major Double IPA
Balck Oak Nut Brown (aged in whiskey barrels)
Granite Peculiar (aged in whiskey barrels)
Wellington Iron Duke Strong Ale

Any beer left from Saturday will be available on Sunday. This list may change (quite likely)

Cask Days has sold out! Unfortunately that means no tickets will be available at the door. However, should anyone cancel, any available tickets will be posted here and at the volo website: www.barvolo.com, or you can try phoning Ralph at the restaurant.

Thanks everyone, and we'll see you at Cask Days!

Due to the usual "unforeseen circumstances", I now have two spare tickets for Sunday. If anyone wants 'em, PM me.

It looks like Ralph will have 22 casks at this event! They should all arrive by Thursday of next week allowing them to settle as much as possible. I have recommended that all casks be tapped at once, meaning they should be available both days if supplies last. I am bringing a cask of Sgt. Majors IPA and a cask of Sgt. Major's DOUBLE IPA. This last one is 9.5% alcohol and 120 IBU. (I used so much hops that its hard to get it to clear completely, theres a slight hazy green tinge to it!)
I know all of you are good responsible drinkers and that you won't overindulge. The minimum serving size is 10 ounces (1/2 pint). Please don't ask for 'just a taste to see if I like it". Unlike most festivals Ralph is purchasing all the beers that are being served so it is only courteous behavior to pay for all you drink so that he can come close to breaking even. He has invested A LOT of time and money in this event. Lets do all we can to make it a worthwhile event for all.

I'll be at the cask Days on both the Saturday and Sunday. I wish Ralph could have held this event this past weekend as I only worked four days because of Thanksgiving. Ahead of me 5 long days of work. Can't wait for Saturday, plan to have a full breakfast (eggs and bacon) to form a base for all the real ale :D

Take it from one who has gone down this road- DON'T have the "full English" breakfast the day after a real ale festival. No details, just a warning.

I wasn't quick on the draw, so I won't be there on Saturday, but will be attending with some friends on Sunday...
Please, please, please... let me... get what I want... Lord knows it would be the first time... Stephen Patrick Morrissey
Ok, I'm being a bit dramatic, but here's hoping that lots of the PHAT hoppy brews are left for me and the boys attending Sunday. If not, I'm taking names and I'll come after you! ;^)

I was at Volo's and noticed that Ralph has a flat screen TV up at the Bar, any chance the he gets Fox Sports World? I ask because my beloved Newcastle United have a Derby Match against Sunderland this Sunday which is being broadcast on tape delay at 1:00pm (til about 3:00pm), I desperately want to watch the match, and I'm sure I could whip up to the Duke of Gloucester and catch it there, but obviously would prefer to enjoy both the match and the REAL ALE...

Regardles... Looking forward to it gents...

I've only seen Cable Plus 24 and brewery adverts on Ralph's TV. J. Walter, even though I'm a Liverpool supporter I still like Newcastle as one of my favourite English players, Michael Owen plays for that team as well as one of England's greatest players of the last 20 years, Alan Shearer who is a fixture on the Geordies.

FYI- Chelsea plays Everton on the Score so you may want to record that and the Newcastle Sunderland match if you have FSWC.

The Toffees(Everton) have to start winning because they're in last place and as a Liverpool supporter I love the derby games against
the 2005 European Champions- LIVERPOOL!!! :D

Ralph's TV gets regular channels, but I highly doubt he gets FSW. I have a similar dilemma this Saturday, I would like to watch the Spurs Man U game, but luckily it gets over at 12pm, so perhaps if I drop by a downtown pub to watch it, I can zip up to Volo for the start of the event.

I applaud your Newcastle loyalty, even after results like Wigan...the sooner Souness is out the better IMO.
