The Buffalo BrewFest, one of my beer highlights of last summer, is returning this year.

It will be held on Saturday, September 1st (Labour Day weekend), from 1-5pm. Dunn Tire Park, Buffalo's outdoor baseball stadium and home to the minor-league Bisons, will host the festivities once again.

Tickets are $15 (US) in advance, or $18 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online here:

http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/EventInfo?pid=880571

Initial estimates suggest there will be at least 50 breweries in attendance. I'll post up more information on breweries as I receive it.

This is an excellent fest, and we had a blast last year. If you need any convincing to go, check out my review from last year:

Just found out today - it looks like we might have as many as 15 more breweries added to the list on the website. Check back in the next few days - we're still waiting for confirmation. The new additions include St Andre's (Doug Pengelly's brews), bringing our Canadian Brewery contingent to three - Unibroue, Black Oak, and St. Andre's.

If you were thinking of ordering tickets in advance for the festival through Tickets.com...don't bother. With the service charges the total for two tickets was $37 U.S., that's a dollar more that it'll cost to buy them on the day at the gate.

Good to see some Cdn. brewers down there. We'll have to ask them where are their IPAs

I am really looking forward to the fest. For some reason, I actually have last year's fest programme in my office desk here. It's a great little guide with some tasting tips, and descriptions of the beers available. Anchor, Dogfish Head, Great Lakes, Victory...getting thirsty for Labour Day.

Cass - I'm actually trying to finish writing this year's program tonight. We had a bunch of breweries added today - Rogue, Brooklyn, Youngs, Chimay, Belhaven, Abita, De Koninck, Maredsous, Old Speckled Hen, Kinsale Brewing, and Post Road Pumpkin.

Hope you guys are thirsty...

Given that this event is a flat-fee all-you-can drink affair, I figure this is a great opportunity to sample some of the high-end imports before plunking down the $5+ US for a bottle. I personally enjoyed the RCH Old Slug and the Hanssens Oudbeitje (if your lambic experience tops out with Mort Subite, you're in for a shock with this one). I really look forward to the Schlenkerla Weizen and Great Lakes beers. And Three Floyds, if they bring the Dreadnaught (an Imperial IPA). And if Vanberg & DeWulf brings Rodenbach Grand Cru, woo hoo!
