Sweet as. I'll keep an eye out.

I thought the Big Dog Pelee Island Porter was the best of the fest also. Does anyone know for sure what was different about this than the regular Big Dog Porter? There was a suggestion that wine/grapes from Pelee Island were used but others disagreed?

I think that the Big Dog has always had wine in it (or is aged in wine barrels more likely). Ratebeer lists it as Big Dog Beaujolais (sp?). I assumed it was the same beer in a different kind of wine barrel, but I could be wrong.

Jer has it right. There is no "regular" version of the Big Dog Porter (at least not regularly available to the public) - it is always aged in wine barrels before release. The first year, it was in Beaujolais barrels, hence the name entered in RB. In subsequent years, different barrels have been used, with a slight name change accordingly.

Might be worth submitting this as an update to RB, come to think of it...

Don't know if this helps at all, but I did pick up 6 of the Big Dog Porter's from the brewery a few weeks ago. The bottle doesn't have a traditional label, only a small piece of green paper attached with a rubber band around the neck with the name of the beer, a small logo and the alcohol %. It was just called "Big Dog Porter" without Beaujoilas, Pelee Island or any other designation.

I think that's the same packaging issue that delayed the Southern Tier for so long. 8)
