We're back again for 2016!

Our next event will be Monday, February 15th (Family Day) at the Brick Works for "Open Containers", where we'll have five breweries, each serving from their own shipping container. We have Indie, Great Lakes, Amsterdam and Henderson confirmed for the day, plus food from Indie, Original Chimneys and Heirloom.

We'll also have a special collaboration beer - "Off with their Heads" Gingerbread Porter made with Indie Alehouse.

Mark it down in your calendars and stay tuned for more details!

It was a really enjoyable day at Brick Works today. The Brewery Market was just one of many events going on there today; I wonder how sales were compared to usual? It didn't really feel like drinking in Ontario, as the licensed area wasn't segregated away from the fun family area. There was a live New Orleans brass band playing that I really enjoyed, board games to play, food all around. The skating area wasn't licensed, but that probably makes sense. It was warm enough, and a nice gentle snowfall to make it all a bit magical.

Happy Family Day everyone! <sniff>

Yep, that one was pretty good. Great job, Cass! It really did feel like a relaxation of the rules and almost like a transition to a less restrictive society.

Thanks for the kind words guys and sorry for the late reply. The Brick Works is a great partner and wants our events to be as casual as fun as we all want beer events to be!

We had one on Good Friday which I didn't get to promote as much as I wanted to here as I was all over the world over the last couple of weeks. But we're back on Victoria Day and it should be a great one.

Was at the Saturday event on Ottawa, and while the area and weather was beautiful, the process of actually drinking beer was somewhat confusing. If you purchased the small tasting glass you only got to drink certain IPA's from each brewery. If you wanted to try the other beers you had to purchase a separate glass to try those. Seemed a little silly that you needed to have multiple glasses of different sizes just to get the beer you wanted.

I think we may need to revisit the payment model at these events too. Five 2oz or 3oz samples costs $10, but with the beer bars around town I could go to either the Loon, L'Autre, Brothers, Craft, etc. and try those exact same samples for free. (I'm not usually a sampler kind of guy, I just pick my pint and go with it, but they would certainly let me taste anything if I asked too.) I realize there is a cost to these festivals and the money has to come from somewhere, and no model will ever be perfect, but I wasn't a fan of the model used this past weekend.

It was a fun afternoon with a great crowd and a great venue and I will definitely continue supporting events like these, just had some feedback.
I don't always drink beer ... because sometimes my friends win and we have to go to macro-only establishments.

Thanks for the feedback. This was an experiment to create a "sampler" offering which is something that we are constantly asked for, but I strongly feel is not part of what the Brewery Market is fundamentally about. We're a "have a cup of beer" event, not a sampling event.

It was very purposeful that the IPA offering was a defined set of samples of those specific beers. That's it - sorry if you felt confused but we don't want to move to a model whereby samples are offered for all beers. We're about having 12oz cups of beer for one price.

We believe this idea, although certainly where we can work out some kinks, is one that nicely solves the sampling feedback we hear from visitors but balances with our beliefs for how a festival should operate.

Thanks for your ongoing support and sorry if it was a confusing. It was our first time trying something new and for the most part we feel it worked out - but yes, there's some learning for next time.
