Celebrate Michael Jackson, the Beer Hunter, with a screening of a documentary film that features rare footage of Michael's travels, plus interviews with leading brewers and beer writers about how Michael changed the world of craft beer forever.
Before the screening, Stephen Beaumont, one of the world’s most authoritative voices on beer today, will discuss Michael’s contribution to beginning a renaissance of interest in beer.
Following the film, Stephen will be signing copies of his latest books - the brand new The Pocket Beer Guide and last year's The World Atlas of Beer - both written in collaboration with UK-based beer expert Tim Webb.
Cheshire Valley Brewing and Great Lakes Brewery will be providing commemorative cask ales in Michael’s honour.
Admission is $20.00, which includes 2 commemorative beers, light appetizers, and film screening. Additional beer will be available to purchase. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Parkinson’s research.
This screening is a co-presentation of Canadian Beer News and The Rhino, and is an official part of Toronto Beer Week, a collective series of craft beer themed events taking place in Toronto from September 13th to 21st.
Please note that the event will be taking place in the 2nd floor space above Rhino, which is not wheelchair accessible.

Ha! It was actually supposed to be Wed 25th - but there's been some developments since last night that might lead to a date change.grub wrote:minor note: it's either wednesday the 25th or thursday the 26th as there is no wednesday the 26th this year
I've updated the original post to reflect this. More soon...

The copy I have is a burned CD ROM/DVD disc. It was a gift from a very generous trader/host. I'm not sure if you can buy it legitimately, although there seems to be VHS copies sticking around on Amazon:MatttthewGeorge wrote:This is available on DVD?biegaman wrote: Just the other night I dusted off my Beer Hunter DVD and watched the Belgium episode. What a great series and body of work.

In regard to Michael Jackson, I would like to draw attention to Stan Hieronymous's superb article in the current issue of All About Beer on Jackson's voluminous research and business archive. It is now housed at Oxford Brookes University in the famous academic town, to facilitate research in beer and related matters.
Stan gives numerous extracts from the works which are tantalizing and show that there are probably 10 unpublished books in that archive (not almost fully written books but extracts from journals, tasting notes, brewery visits and the like which could be fashioned into excellent books I believe). Hopefully over time some of it will see light of day.

Unfortunately, PayPal (which processes the payments for the online ticketing system we're using) doesn't appear to accept debit cards as payment, just credit cards.Publican wrote:Greg, I'd like to attend this event and I'd like to pay by debit card. There dosen't seem to be a debit option. I haven't used pay pal before Can you help?
If you have a PayPal account, you can connect your bank account to it and make direct payments that way. But without a PayPal account, you'll need to use a credit card.
There may be some tickets available at the door. I'll post closer to the date if this will be the case.
There are still some tickets left for this event, and they'll remain on sale online until sometime Thursday afternoon:

There will probably be a handful available at the door as well, for any last minute decision makers.

This is a very good documentary/insight into Michael Jackson; most enjoyable.
