You've sort of got to hope that they understand they're not bringing the brand with them. The only reason to bring Blue Moon is if it comes with the attendant properties.
It's incredibly dumb.

Maybe they hope to get it established and then change the name later? But it is incredibly dumb when they already have Rickards White.
Not much equity in Belgian Moon!saints_gambit wrote:You've sort of got to hope that they understand they're not bringing the brand with them. The only reason to bring Blue Moon is if it comes with the attendant properties.

Personally, I can't wait until they start bringing in the special seasonals. You know - Raspberry Blue Moon, Lady Blue Moon, Tartar Control Blue Moon...
I really don't want to see a Belgian moon. I hear they have hairy butts.

I always through that Blue Moon was already in Canada, where it is called Rickard's White.
This article seems to support that theory: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/c ... 1eeb48df4f

Jordan has written a very informative piece on this which covers the story perfectly. Even makes a case for lawyers!

That is indeed pretty hilarious. I like the foresight of Amsterdam, but it's also a wee bit creepy and reminiscent of a patent troll. It's like Amazon thinking they own the patent for any checkout process on the web.midlife crisis wrote:Jordan has written a very informative piece on this which covers the story perfectly. Same thoughts here, but I guess everyone else has the opportunity to steal away your beer name ideas too. Precedence of use alone does not give you any protection, so who's fault is it when someone else pays for the rights you did not secure.napoleon wrote:That is indeed pretty hilarious. I actually admire Amazon for getting rid of advertising and offering free shipping, that was an innovation that paid off well for them. When have you ever NOT combined additional Amazon purchases when the minimum total allowed you to avoid loathsome shipping charges?
