Amazing Clubs Beer of the Month

Post by Masterplan »

I got this as a gift this year:

http://www.amazingclubs.ca/beer.html?__ ... =113352455

So I get a 12 pack every 3 months. Has anyone done this before? Is it any good or will it be pretty pedestrian in its offerings? At $50 per delivery it seems pretty steep....

Maybe for a craft beer beginner, someone that is just getting into it. By looking at last years selection it was nothing to go nuts over. Considering the cost and you will only get 3 different beers, 4 of each, I would say not work it. If it was a true mix 12, yeah that would be cool. I would say get a beer pen-pal or 6!

I think it's fun for people who aren't picky and are happy drinking "any" beer and just enjoy variety.

I've been curious about the similar Savvy Hips Hops offering out of Ottawa, as they seem to feature breweries I'm not as familiar with (half of the time).

post some updates when your beers arrive, so we know what it's like!

It was a gift, so cost isn't a factor. I was just curious if anyone had done it before. I will report back.

So my first shipment arrived:

Hop Happy Haymarker Double IPA from Strathmore Brewing - 5.5 ABV - tasted like one of those Alexander Keith hop series beers.

Peacemaker Belgian Brown Porter also Strathmore - 6 ABV will have to try again under more sober conditions.

Hop Shot Auburn Ale from Cameron's 5 ABV. Haven't drank it yet.

Orange Zest Lager also from Cameron's - 5 ABV. Haven't tried.

All in all underwhelming, but drinkable. And I got a great box with molded cardboard top and bottom for shipping beer. Might be the best part so far...

I think you've got the measure of it already. I had this for 6 months as a gift. The first month was a high point, it was Black Oak - Ten Bitter Years and Nutcracker porter (long before LCBO access) but....paired with two Trafalgar beers.

The rest were so average, I don't remember them. Seem to recall some Niagara Brew Pub called the Syndicate as another one.

Definately they were going for variety but there were alot lagers, reds, golden ales etc.

That's all beer I'd happily receive "as a gift", so enjoy.
Can't expect the cream of the crop, but nice to get beers that aren't always on your radar!

Nice...good to see they really are sending out some lesser known stuff....should make it more appealing to some people.

I dropped into Syndicate and got a growler of the Porter. I'm impressed. It was very good.

I agree the Porter was pretty good, but the ESB was lacking.
