Rogue Offer

Post by esprit »

We're putting together an order from Rogue Ales of Portland/Newport Oregon, one of America's finest microbreweries. The order will ship in early August and probably be available for distribution by the end of August. We need to move quickly on this one so the deadline for responses is July 21, 2004. As we have a standing order of 5 cases of any product from one of our bar customers and since orders over 5 cases incur an LCBO lab fee of $135, we'll need a decent quantity of any product in order to make it worthwhile to import that particular product. Orders are for full case lots only and out of towners can have their cases transferred to their closest LCBO store. If the response is not sufficient to justify any individual product, we'll let you know it's being dropped from the order and give you the option of supplementing your order with something else. For information on any of these beers, visit www.rogue.com

The following are packed in cases of 12 x 650ml and approximate retail prices per case will be $80:

HAZELNUT BROWN NECTAR
MOCHA PORTER
SHAKESPEARE STOUT
ST. ROGUE RED
BRUTAL BITTER

The following are packed in cases of 24 x 355ml and approximate retail prices per case will be $100:

XS IMPERIAL INDIA PALE ALE (I2PA)
XS OLD CRUSTACEAN
XS RUSSIAN IMPERIAL STOUT

Out of towners are asked to specify to which store they want the cases transferred.

Anyone interested in splitting a case, or doing some mixing with individually bought full cases? I haven't had a chance to try much of the rogue stuff, other than the shakespeare (wild irish) rogue, so I'm open to many of the styles (the hazelnut and mocha porter caught my eye, but am open to others as well).

I would gladly take some bottles, as well. If anyone in Toronto is ordering some Imperial Stout or I2PA and would like to lighten their load, I could possibly take at least 4-6 bottles of each. Maybe a bottle or two of Old Crusty, too. A worthwhile trade could probably be arranged. Let me know.

i haven't tried the Saint Rogue or the Mocha Porter yet so I wouldn't mind a bottle of those. I could be persuaded to take a few bottles of the XS series too. If someone arranges a group order and you need someone to round out the numbers let me know.

Is the bar thats ordering Smokeless? (Ie. if we want to find them is that where we should be looking?)

If someone is organizing to split some cases, I'd be interested in 6 or so of any of the Mocha Porter, Shekespeare Stout, I2PA or Imperial Stout.

Cheers,

Josh

Y'know, it seems to me these offers to take 3 or 6 bottles usually fall on deaf ears. Why not just purchase a case of one of them (They are all good), and then trade with people after they arrive....

...not to throw cold water on your efforts but it's true, everytime we've made these offers we get a lot of people interested in a few bottles but no one willing to take on the job of co-ordinating, ordering and then distributing...I'd do it myself if I knew it wasn't go be a nightmare which is why we don't offer...hopefully someone will take this on and, if not, step up to bat and go for a case!

I think the main problem with the past attempts to organize partial case orders has been the lack of a proper system to get the orders together.

If there was an online system of some sort where people could indicate how many bottles they want of each beer, it might work out a bit better, although one or two people would still have to be on the back end to organize the final order and the collection of money/distribution of beer.

If anyone wanted to author this system I would happily host it on the bartowel.

The Rogue I2PA is the nectar of the gods if you are a hop head. Truly unbelievable.

If people want to email me I will try coordinate?

Email should be like this:

Jeremy
Mocha Porter 2-3 bottles (Definitely)
St Rogue 2-3 Bottles (Definitely)
XS I2PA 2-6 bottles (Maybe)
XS Imp Stout 2-6 Bottles (Maybe)

I can post a summary of what people are thinking of and how that breaks down into actually potential cases, then do a round two to finalize and see if we actually have enough orders to make it worth while for Peter?

Does that sound like it will work?

What works for me is one person contacting me with an order for some full cases and that person will pick up and pay me (we might be able to arrange local delivery if it's convenient)...nothing more, nothing less...the rest of it is in your ballpark.

I didn't mean to create a monster here! After some thought, I'm going to go with A on this one - I'll be ordering a full case or two (I'm not sure which brand yet - probably the two I mentioned earlier - I'll post it here after I order) - if others order any full cases, please drop me a line and let's arrange a trade of a bottle or two. I'll probably do the same for the samuel smith's order. Cheers.
