What a Great Time to be an Ontario Beer Drinker!

Post by Steve Beaumont »

How good is it? Well, from last night's soiree -- and, BTW, nice seeing everyone at the Bow -- I know that Perry's Corporal Punishment will have its long-awaited bottled release very soon. Plus, the LCBO release I received today notes that the Winter Warmers promo definitely includes the delayed release of Rodenbach Grand Cru and the heretofore only rumoured release of Fuller's Vintage Ale. Not to mention the general list addition of Petrus Oud Bruin, also announced in the release, and...

Pabst Blue Ribbon Honey is finally available to LCBO Combination Stores!!

Thanks for the info Steve.

Just for clarification, it is the Srgt Major we'll be seeing in bottles, and not the Corporal, correct?

And the other beers you have mentioned, the Fullers and the Grand Cru, are these part of the winter release we're starting to see now, or a different winter promo after the new year?

Uh, ya, my bad. It's the Sergeant coming out in bottles, not the Corporal. And as for the other beers, they'll be appearing very soon at a store near you, although the release does state that the Fuller's is available in only 'limited quantities.' My advice would be to buy a few for the cellar.

Great, thanks, I'll keep an eye on this site and the lcbo site for any sightings!

Ah, that they don't tell me. Generally speaking, though, I'd say count on the larger stores like Summerhill, Queen's Quay, the big new ones in the 'burbs, etc.

771 is the store I work at in Ajax. I hope some vintage ale comes in. It won't be going anywhere near the shelves.

Store 771 eh? They wouldn't be interested in trying the Sgt. Major's IPA in bottles would they...

Mustang3, I make most of my beer purchases from store 771, so I hope you will share at least 6 of the vintage ale with me.
Perry I hope Sgt. Major's IPA makes it to store 771.

I'll talk to the manager when I get back. Maybe I can get him to order some. I'll buy at least 2 6 packs for myself. AL if anything limited comes in I'll stash enough for both of us and let you know.

Thanks Mustang3, any help getting the more limited stuff would be greatly appreciated as Durham as a whole get's shorted.

Gary already has my order for 2 cases of Chimay, Orval and Terrible.

A great time to be an Ontrio beer drinker?...ya...no matter how much us repressed lemmings resent the bureaucracy that still limits craft beer culture/commerce and markets from being what they should.......it's bloody rapture compared to what it was less than 15 years ago....thanks to guys like Steve and Peter and.......those who want something better.

At the risk of dating myself I remember when import beer in Ontario consisted of Lowenbrau and craft beer was Brick lager.

Right you are nys, however the Chimay that is part of the winter beer promotion is in fact the richer and stronger Blue Cap. Go out and get some while you can.

Geoffrey.
