DELERIUM TREMENS - Ideas for general petition, defeat LCBO?

Post by Belgian »

Our taxes researched, selected, marketed and introduced this product DELERIUM TREMENS at the LCBO... now our taxes are being spent taking this product away from us, because ONE Canadian Mugwump lacked a sense of proportion about a stupid name on a beer, a beer that clearly is designed not to offend but is in fact festooned with pink elephants.

Where does it end, the LCBO's political irresponsibility and inaccountability to the Ontario consumer?

How long will they be permitted to interfere with the forces of free market demand, and the free dissemination of culturally important products from other countries, contrary to what should be their indebted commitment?

I do appreciate he LCBO's efforts to (despite all odds) feature a few interesting beverages on a limited basis once in a while, but their kneejerking retraction of a product by ONE person who clearly does not want OTHER people to enjoy it is freaking reprehensible.

Why can't they cease shelf display of the product while still selling from the back it on a request basis?

It is NOT illegal to sell this product in Ontario, so the LCBO IS breaking the law because the website falsely advertises a product they then refuse to sell for the most pussy-whipped reason you can imagine. They cannot do this. I mean come ON.

>>> I move as a reaction to this (but still entirely in principle, cough cough) that we petition the LCBO to remove ALL products with any name by even a stretch remotely offensive to any belief, group or nationality etc. (This will lead to a widespread uproar demanding the LCBO be entirely shut down, or at least act like potty trained grown ups.)

Let's begin a list.

1) MUDSLIDE mixer. Clearly offends families all disaster victims - GONE!

Who's next up to bat? Let's send this thing and do it!

hehe... Big Dutch Jug reminds me of a scene from the British Show "The Office"

David Brent reads from a porn site...
Brent: “ ‘Dutch girls must be punished for having big boobs.’ Now you do not punish someone, Dutch or otherwise for having big boobs.”
Gareth: “If anything they should be rewarded.”
Brent: “They should be equal.”
Gareth: “Women are equal.”
Brent: “I’ve always said that.”

If you haven't seen this show, try to. It's even funnier than the LCBO's stupidity, and a lot less frustrating. :)

Here's a few more:
Blackbutt - Say no more. It's an Aussi red wine, product #963876.
Yellow Snow Ale - promotes potentially unsafe drinking of soiled snow.
How about all of those alcopops that promote drinking to minors: Mike's Hard Lemonade, Seagram's Orange Cream Swirl, etc.

I did not even think of the card game. I don't gamble so it was the last thing from my mind. I was thinking of a man named Jack who is Black.
