I dunno -- if I had first sampled Cameron's Dark 266, I would have been tempted to pass on their entire line-up. Watery is not a phrase that ought be associated with a beer.
I was thinking more along the lines of the stuff that's readily available - Cream Ale, Auburn Ale, Premium Lager ...
I kinda figured that was where you were coming from, but the Dark 266 (in bottled form at least) really seems like a misstep on Cameron's part. Should've known something was up when I saw it was packaged in a six pack...

I spoke to Jason from Cameron’s about the six packs this weekend at the Winking Judge, and he mentioned that the LCBO would not allow any more 9 packs. Their other brands in 9 packs have been "grandfathered" in but not the Dark.

Nice way to have your marketing strategy compromised. Is the Dark 266 supposed to by a year-round addition to the Cameron line, or is it more a one-off like the Sleeman Fine Porter? I'll give a try on tap to see if it holds up any better, but was disappointed with it in bottle form.

Well, I've been having a hard time with this Dark 266 thing, as in what are you on about? But I guess it must be new, is it?

I've always enjoyed their Auburn Ale - even found it on tap in my brother-in-law's favorite pizza joint in Bolton (Baffo's). The Cream and Lager are good, but don't strike me as being as good as the Auburn.

King Pilsner also gets a vote from me, but not so much their Dark. Hockley Valley on tap is great, only so-so in the can and I'm not fussy on Hockley Dark. Oh, and for the record, I really like dark beers, I just don't think these are super examples.

The Dark 266 is new; I picked up a six the other week, but think it's been around for a month or so. As the name implies, it's a brown ale, 4.5 abv, with some nutty, toasty & chocolaty notes to it. I've only had it in the bottle format, and I find that it has too much of a watery finish to it. I want to like it, given what it has going for it, but the watery finish leaves me feeling rather underwhelmed.
