Mill Street Stock Ale

Post by mds »

Has anyone seen this at The Beer Store yet? I suppose I could walk down to the brewery to pick up a six otherwise.

M.

This is a new beer replacing their Sparkling Ale - although the description of the Stock Ale on the Beer Store website matches the one for the Sparkling Ale on the Mill Street site pretty much exactly, so I expect it to be quite similar.

I think Mill Street is changing their bottle as well. I heard they are trading in the stubby for the "regular" style 341ml brown bottle. Not sure when/if this is happening though.

On the website it says 355mL bottles and they are now available at The Beer Store...

The new bottles I've seen for Mill St are reminiscent of pop bottles from the 30's - 60's - strong simple graphics painted on the bottle. They look pretty striking and are definitely non-stock.

I found their new bottles at the Summerhill LCBO. Brown with silkscreened labels. Very nice.

The new Mill Street package is by far the most stylish of the Ontario craft movement...and...no bloody twistoff. The marketing weenie that introduced the twistoff should be shot and pissed on IMHO.

Looks like image-wise Mill St. may be jockeying with Steam for the "king of the micros" throne Creemore has now abandoned...

I wandered down to Summerhill during a hot afternoon walk. Very nice indeed. Too bad the Organic bottles haven't been switched to the new bottles. (Why are they so damned tiny?!) I only like their Organic brew pending a try of the Stock Ale.

Tankhouse also purchased this weekend in the new bottles at Avenue & Fairlawn LCBO, which was nice, because that store doesn't have a great selection generally. They had the Hockley Dark in cans too, though, so not all bad.

Just found out that the Keaton here in London will be getting the Stock Ale on tap. Can't wait!

Greg, I picked some up at Mill St. and they told me it is the Sparkling Ale, just with a new name.
