I was being (mostly) sarcastic. I think my point was that for a lot (most) people, the LCBO satisfies need and would possibly not be able to do so (i.e.: cheap euro-lagers and yellowtail) if the monopoly were not in place.

This is also happening in the wine sector, to the point where many smaller agencies may be hit pretty hard. Even where I work, we find that many of our smaller, family-owned wineries are not going to meet sales targets and may be squeezed out. And this is in the consignment programme, for wines that aren't even sold through LCBO retail.
