Sorry about the mix up, I meant all the ones that are out(westmalle, Samuel Smith, Burton Porter , and the Celtic Stout) . The guy at the store told me that the fullers wont be out until november, and that its part of the winter release.

Uhhh... the LCBO isn't doing a winter release, as far as I know.

They do a giftpack release for Christmas, but there isn't another seasonal release until sometime next year, based on the pattern from the past couple of years.

Nice to see that the staff is as informed as always...

The gift packs will be coming out in October, and the winter release will follow in December. You'll remember that last year we got Orval, Rochefort 8, Westmalle Tripel and others just before Christmas. I'm not sure what we'll be seeing this year but I'll find out.

Ah, yeah, that's right. I thought that release came out in January for some reason.

Don't run down to Queens Quay today looking for Westmalle because they don't have any left in the store, was there on Saturday and the last 7 bottles left with Hogtownharry and myself. Harry asked if there was anymore but they had no more in the store. They do have lots of the Sam Smiths and the O'Hara but I didn't see the porter (may have missed it).

BTW, good to see you Harry.

I was there Saturday morning(Queens Quay) and they had about 20 Westmalle, as well as a case that had not been opened yet. They must have moved fast . I had two westmalles last night, I really enjoyed them.[/quote]

Managed to pick up the Burton, Sam Smith and Celtic releases today in Mississauga, but Westmalle was nowhere to be seen in the Oakville / Mississauga area.

Sounds like its going fast when it does show up...similar to the DFH 60? Seems like if you blink these days the "hot" beers are gone. I don't recall it always being this way, or am I wrong?

I'm pretty sure I used to be able to find seasonals hanging around the shelves for months (and not just the dud suds).

Does anyone agree? Perhaps they're just getting more popular to the general beer drinking crowd, or perhaps we're just not getting as high a volume of some of the releases?

They don'ts eem to have all of them at Queen's Quay - when I was there yesterday afternoon they had the WestMalle, O'Hara's Celtic Stout and Samuels Smith's Nut Brown. The Burton's Porter space on the shelf was empty - all gone.
I didn't see any of the others, but then again I didn't think to ask either. Still, I'm pretty sure I would have seen them, if they were there.
As for the WestMalle, I'm not sure how many they have - I picked up twelve and there were twelve left on the shelf.

Finally listed on the public LCBO site but no listed stock yet anywhere:

Inventory information for WESTMALLE DUBBEL, LCBO Item # 676965, $ 2.95 in all cities.

No store in the selected city has inventory for that item. Please go to the previous page to select another city.

Good price. This was recently $3.65 through Bieropholie in Quebec.

Kind of pathetic, thousands of Views on a thread to get ahold on ONE beer that is easily available in the USA.

And kind of a pisser that they release a ton of it unexpectedly here and there, while withholding it other places.

At least with Vintages wines, the LCBO respect us enough to release them all on the same announced date - not just 'randomly, whenever.'

I spoke to one (very helpful and sympathetic) store manager who said their location would get a minimum five cases & possibly re-order - but he said other stores just want seasonal beers gone as soon as possible. I infer from this many stores are too unmotivated to care about any real service ethic, let alone being informed & respecting a release date.

It's all about finding those really good people at reliable LCBO store locations. In our quasi-socialist situation, relationships are everything to 'working around the system.'
