The PR folk from WB were quite forward in asking to use my humble beer blog as a platform for advertising but dropped the ball when they argued that I would benefit by providing their multi-million dollar enterprise with ad space for free.

From my understanding of the movie, Cass, the advertising might be a better fit for the grinning ninnies at "Beer Team Canada" anyways.

I do get this sort of thing once in a while and it just seems odd that they do not appreciate that an ad is an ad and a place like The Bar Towel would be a great place to spend a chunk of their ad budget given the sort of audience you have. Instead, we are now likely compelled to ridicule the film if only to give oneself that sense of moral highground again.

The BA Bros saw a private screening:

I was a bit surprised that they were so supportive. I really thought it would be step backwards for Beer Advocacy & presenting a more positive image.

That said, I've been surprised at the number of non-beer people that have mentioned this movie to me. Maybe there really is no such thing as bad press?

I'll definitely see it. Probably not in a theater though.

It's too bad I don't have the time to head down to Michigan for this promotion:

August 25th 7:00 pm at the Wave Room at Celebration Cinema!

Participating breweries:
Bells, Founders, and New Holland

$5.00 cover at the door.

They will also have German and American Food.

Given the sophomoric tone of the ad campaign, I doubt I'll watch the movie (either at the cinema or rented) nor will it make me thirsty. We need a none-of-the-above option for the survey.

I saw the ad and was embarassed by the possibility that any of my friends or relatives might think this is what I'm referring to when I say that I'm going to a beer festival. Ugh!
