Beer Hunter videos at Zellers

Got Vol 2 at Zellers, Vic Park/Danforth - Bohemia and Bavaria - one copy still there.

Good viewing - not a ton of new information but I liked the behind-the-scenes stuff such as Plzen's awesome wooden fermenting vats & all those soft-voiced Czech pretties in swimwear collecting the Saaz hops under the Bohemian sun.

All in all these volumes look really old, and probably represent especially in Urquell's case 'the way things were' before things like Miller/SAB happened. The early nineties (?) were yet an innocent time in the Czech lands, captured here to inspire memories of these places we've visited back then. The halcyon days of bargain travel and real cone-hopped Urquell for thirty cents!

I think Jackson said there are now 1200 breweries in Germany, 800 of these in Bavaria alone. I understand before the last World War there were many thousands more small breweries!!! Talk about your brew-pub culture.... a really good reason to explore South Germany still today, where things remain comfortingly a little behind the times.
