LCBO Autumn 2008 Release

The following beers are planned to be included in the LCBO's Autumn, 2008 seasonal beer promotion. The official release date is Sept 17th, but beers may arrive earlier or later, and all details (including beers included in the release) are subject to change.

Monty Python Holy Grail Ale (4.70% - $3.45/500ml - LCBO 894048)
Burton Porter (4.50% - $3.85/500ml - LCBO 926162)
Harvey's Porter 1859 (4.80% - $3.95/500ml - LCBO 55400)
Belhaven Wee Heavy (6.50% - $3.50/500ml - LCBO 698977)
Fuller's 1845 (6.30% - $3.50/500ml - LCBO 504670)
Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar (6.20% - $5.75/650ml - LCBO #TBA)
Koningshoeven Triple Ale (8.00% - $6.95/750ml - LCBO 86934)
Westmalle Dubbel (7.00% - $3.25/330ml -LCBO 676965)
Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout (7.00% - $3.95/550ml - LCBO 676023)
St Peter's Cream Stout (6.50% - $3.75/500ml - LCBO #TBA)
Adnams Broadside (6.30% - $2.90/500ml - LCBO 88641)
Trafalgar Smoked Oatmeal Stout (5.00% - $3.95/650ml - LCBO 54106)
Erdinger Dunkel (5.60% - $3.05/500ml - LCBO 574236)

NOTE: Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier was originally planned to be part of this release, but has been dropped. It was replaced by Adnams Broadside.

Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar (6.20% - 650ml)

YAY!

Harvey's Porter 1859 (4.80% - 500ml)
Fuller's 1845 (6.30% - 500ml)
Westmalle Dubbel (7.00% - 330ml)

Looking forward to those too.

Holy smokes, Greg, you're on the ball with this one! Another solid list from the LCBO, and a lot of beers that I will be all over!

Mmm, there's some got-to-have's there!

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown was probably 1 of the best IMO of that style, so their Imperial Stout will be topping my try-list.

I've loved the Koningshoeven Triple on tap, so it'll be nice to have a few bottles to have when ever I want.

Westmalle Dubbel will definitely be on my try-list, as the previous Westmalle release was a treat.

Finally an Octoberfest brew! Not a great one, but it's a start.

Certainly some old favourites too.

Really looking forward to the beers above. The Rogue is one of my favourites from them, and the St. Peter's Cream Stout sounds really, really good, though I've never had it. Another solid release, and they seem to keep getting better. Also nice to see the once-dormant relationship between the LCBO and Rogue kickstarted as of late....

Just make sure you buy/drink it this fall, and not in 2009.

actually, the 1845 cellars pretty well. i'm sure it'll be quite nice in 2009.

I love the 1845, my favourite in the Fullers line-up, it captures their distinctive malt profile perfectly.

1845 is bottle-conditioned, and strong enough for a bit of aging. It's not like a Biére de Garde or anything, but the flavor does open up with careful cellaring.

I'm still working on my last case of 2007 and each bottle I have opened has been great.

- Genius!!!! Great additions.... happy Snoopy dancing here.

Also good to see a few basic yet solidly enjoyable German offerings. It will be fun to drink real Hofbräu beer for the heck of it, and a decent Hefe is always fun to slide back a few of as well. Who will put up the giant tent in their yard??

The Harvey's is back - it's extremely welcome - I am guessing the Scotch Irish Black Irish Plain Porter is not returing, which is sad. Black Irish is certainly WAY better than that Burton (green apple peel tasting stuff) the dryness just ruins the body for me. I am happy if others are enjoying Burton Porter though.

This is a good release with some real highlights. Big thank you to all the importers for making it happen with the LCBO!

Yeah, I'm happy about an Oktoberfest as well. I've had it before a long time ago, and it isn't great, but it represents the style.

I agree. I'm fairly new to this, and one of my (many) regrets so far is that last fall I stocked up on the Fullers Vintage, and only grabbed a couple of the 1845. After having tasted both, I'll definitely be going at it the other way around this year.

(Having said that, it'll be interesting to see what a year in the cellar does to each.)
